i just had my bike in the shop for major
repair ever time you would roll it backwards
in gear it would jump the timing
it ended up being the front cam chain guide had broke off above the
crank it cost me alot to get it fixed but it fixed now
but now after getting back from honda my carbs are not working right
they work fine two weeks ago

i had a new cam chain all guides, tensioner all new gaskets
new bearing new starter clucth a gear that goes to the starter
and some needle bearing

i went riding sunday rode the bike for about 20 miles
and used 3/4 tank gas and it has a hesitation right off idle
so i think that idle circuit is clogged up
but i don't know how unless honda dealer let stuff get in them when they were off
the bike

thanks to the admins for this section for us to post trouble
and experiences with these awsome bike

It is probally just a coinincidence that this problem arose afterwards....the cam chain thing probally had nothin to do with it. Did you get a manual camchain tensioner or the stock one agaiin?? The stock ones are notorious for failing on the cbr600/1000

Greymustang, great idea of suggesting our own forum.
I feel at home now.
I have a 1988 Hurricane 1000cc, two tone silver with 4700 original miles.
I stored my bike after I bought it new in '88 for 11 years and I enjoy now like it was the first day I got it.
Right now is at Plano Honda (Texas) rebuilding the carburators since the idle sucked.
I'm also installing a new set of headers Vance & Hines SSR-2. The Yoshimura headers are a little too old and are rusted after 17 years, but they sound very sweet still.
I hope we get more people to post here.
Till then ride safe.

I too ride one of these awesome bikes. I dont care what people say, the CBR 1000F is one of the best bikes I have ever ridden. I have a 1993 1000F and LOVE it! I have the V&H SS2R system on mine also, it sounds and performs very well. Finally the CBR 1000F gets its own section, how exciting is that!!?? I look forward to networking with you guys to share our experiences with these awesome machines! Until then, be safe, and have fun!!!

I'm waiting on Honda to finish my bike carb's.
They did not have all the complete seals and gaskets, so they had to order them.
The Yoshimura system is old, but sounds very sweet.
The rust is only on the surfarce, very little specs, NO PERFORATIONS or weak spots.
Make me and offer including shipping via UPS, I guarranty your money back, if you don't like them.
My email is red93r2@msn.com

Sounds awesome!! Not as deep and throaty as some of the bikes you hear, but has alot more aggresive sound, more like a growl to it.

Hi RB

I've got a question about your Yosh system... Is it a complete system and if so, is it a 4 into 2 or a 4 into 1?

Thanks!

I had a customer with the V & H 4 into 1 system on his Hurricane and you could hear that damn thing from 9 blocks away. I asked about baffles and any mods, but he had no idea-it came on the bike. I want an aftermarket system but I don't want to give up the stealthy stock sound. Oh, the troubles I go through!

You can repack the SSR2 with heavier baffles. Mine is not real loud but you can hear it from a distance.
