I'm looking at getting a GPS for the 954, want something good without going crazy on the money side - but really want something motorcycle specific.

I'm looking at the new Garmin Zumo 550, but I'm partial to the Navman as well.  Anyone else running GPS or have any input?

I rode with a couple of guys who had the garmin...seemed to work pretty well.

Let me piggyback off of this if you don't mind.  Does anybody use a radar detector...If so what brand and do they work well on your bike, is it easy to setup? Wireless? Easy to attach and will it stay put?

I know this thread is a little old, but it all depends on what you want the GPS for. I have a friend of mine that takes regular trips on his bike and uses a Garmin 376c because it has realtime satelite weather and radio. Just some food for thought.

I have a 929rr as well and use a Garmin Quest 2 with a Ram Mount.  The stem of the mount slides down into the hole in the triple clamp nut, then the Quest 2 sits in a very secure cradle mount.  I don't currently run of 12v from the bike battery, because the GPS has a battery that will go 10-20 hours in between charges.  Had both the Quest and Quest 2 for the last 4 years and love it.  Go on Ebay and find the Quest 2 that is factory refurbished for about $190

i stopped a guy on a bike before with a radar mounted on his handle bars. he had a 1000RR that he got a mount online somewhere. he had a headphone hooked up to run from the detector to his ear... nice set up, but i still got him!

I have a GARMIN 360 Nuvi. It is not a bike model, which means don''t get it wet. I have it mounted on a ram mount, and it''s very nice and secure. When it rains, (17.5 hours the other day in the rain) I cover it with a zip lock bag.

The screen is touch sensitive, and even with my winter gloves on I can use it. Easier without gloves, but certainly useable... especially if you pre-plot points before heading out like I do.

When I''m riding I can look down, tap favorites, tap the next point, and hit go... it guides me to the next point.

It is SD memory expandable, has an mp3 player, a headphone out (which plugs into my autocom), and it has in memory gas/food/hotels + businesses already... we used it to find an emergancy bike shop en route the other day.

I like it - I got it for $200 + $40 for the mount... so much cheaper than the bike specific models.
