Hi all! Im about to purchase my first machine (2003cbr600rr). Im buying it from a friend but its been sitting in a garage for the last 8-10 months untouched and im wondering what precautions i need to do before i get it on the road?

Check the tires (air pressure/wear), change the oil and filter, maybe change the coolant, check the charging system/battery health, clean and lube the chain (or replace if necessary), lube cables, and double check free play in your brake/clutch handles. You need to take an MSF course if this is your first bike and take a few weeks to practice riding in a neighborhood or parking lot. It's a serious bike and you need to respect what it can do. If you don't have gear, get some or be prepared for the painful reality that is road rash. Your gear investment should be at least 500$ (helmet, jacket, gloves, boots, and pants at a minimum- leather is always best). Welcome to the site. Be safe.
