G'day y'all,

Thought I'd join the CBR Forum to see what other CBR1000RR riders have to say about their bikes.

My current ride is my 30th bike, but my first CBR.  I felt it was time for something a little refined.

I'm based in Perth, Westen Australia, an interesting city spread out over a large area on the south-west coast of Australia.  The place is hot, flat - and almost entirely devoid of hills, canyons and twisty roads.

Well, that's it for now.

Cheers,

Catweazle

Some pics and a little history of all those bikes sure would go down smooth...

How's that summertime treating you! I believe the technical term is 'fungin poofta'!

Welcome!

Summertime?  Ah shit, that's okay then.  I thought I must've died and been moved into a quiet neighbourhood in Hell!

Yeah, okay.  I'll post pics of my previous bikes when I get around to scanning the photos I still have.  Regrettably, I have lost many of the photos over the years.  In some cases, it's actually better that I've lost them.  Some things are best forgotten, like the 1100 Katana I should never have bought!

See ya!

Aw, cheers mate!

I've only been in Oz since Christmas, having spent the previous 12 years in New Zealand, and the 32 before that in South Africa.

So far, I have to say that this part of Australia is hardly a canyon racer's paradise.  Unlike the alligators in Florida, we have to watch out for the bloody kangaroos.  I was only 60kms (about 40 miles?) outside Perth this morning and I saw a few dead 'roos and a badly mangled car on the roadside.  Apparently the 'roos contribute to a fair number of rider fatalities every year, and when you see the size of the bastards - it's hardly surprising!

I haven't seen much of my new neighbourhood since buying the bike, but talking to a few rider in the pub this morning (beer at 8:30am, an Australian tradition), I'm told Tasmania is the absolute best place for riding, as are parts of South Australia and Queensland.  I did have a helluva lot of fun riding in NZ though!

Well, if you are ever in Perth, don't waste money on hotels.  You'd be more than welcome to stay at my place.

Cheers,

Catweazle
