there are 2 things that can be wrong... bent shift fork or gear engagement dogs worn

if it is just starting to happen then you may be safe with a shift fork which for the fork and gaskets it will be around 175 to do it yourself..

if its the engagement dogs on the gears a shop will charge 1200.00 and up  and if you do it yourself it will run around about 600.00 and the cases have to be split..

i did a write up on how to change the shift fork on here you can do a search for it... and that didnt fix it so then i had to take the 2nd route...
