I can't vote either way because I just recently got my 954 and have only had it out once.  It's supposed to be cold tomorrow and I will probably ride a little.  It came with brand new Dunlop Qualifiers, which seem to be twice as sticky as the Dunlop Sportmax's I have on the FZR, and seem to do pretty well after about 10 minutes warming up.

As I get more of a feel for the bike later in the spring and summer hopefully these tires won't present a problem.  I won't be able to afford anything else until 2009.  I did test ride another 954 in early October which had Metzeler M3's and it handled great.

I've been running Dunlops for motocross the past couple years and all has gone well.  I just replaced my MX front with a Pirelli Scorpion, which got rave reviews from friends last year, so of course, very likely Pirelli will be on top of the list as well.

I put a set of Qualifiers on the 54 yesterday.  The bike had the factory Battleaxe that was manufactured in 2001!  I will give a ride report once i get them scuffed in.
