I want alot more acceleration so I can pull out of turns hard and fast also for amature dragging. I read that the stage 1 won't really effect my top end but obviously it is better acceleration than stock. The Stage 2 is sort of made for stunters but they said I will lose 5-10% off my top end. Say my bike goes 165(it can stock) I will only be losing at most 16.5 mph of the top which puts me down to around 148ish topend which is fast enough, but will the stage 2 be too much of a change. Will it be too hard and quick to go up through the gears when normal riding? Thanks

you must be talking about final drive components, as i've never heard them being referred to as "Stage X kits"... and 165 on a stock F4i? down hill, with hurricane force back wind, and a swift kick in the ass maybe... what's the sprocket tooth change from stock?

change of gearing would get better results. But if you are set on a jet change go with the stage 2.

yeah considering you mentioned stunters, i am assuming you are talking about gearing changes....also that you are talking about losing top end (typically with a quick acceleration gear change).... short answer....changing your gears will get you faster and you'll lose some top end.... long complex answer i won't get into....you can change your gear ratio so much so as to make it have CRAZY low-end torque...which is essentially what the stunters do to get the front up real quick...that being said...you try and accelerate hard with a big gear kit, you're gonna loop it....drag bikes i think have bigger rear sprockets, but they have an anti-wheelie bar to prevent the front end from coming up....you're going to have to evaluate exactly what you want...and yes a big rear gear is going to make you shift like mad in normal traffic...you're going to hit your limiter MUCH quicker....

i'm presuming this IS a gearing... because a properly tuned Jet kit would not effect one's speed... or the fact that i think he's got an F4i...

I am sorry for not stating that I am talking about sprocket kits. Just for the record, it was a gradule down hill slope that "someone" hit 165 with just a slip on. Anywho, I dont have any intentions in "stunting," I just want have mad acceleration to a point that I have good control and not losing too much top end. What do you think my limit is as far as sprocket changes?

you can go as high as 14f/60R (which is just straight up ridiculous) but if you want to FEEL a LITTLE more acceleration, i'd go for a 3:1 setup.

ORIGINAL: Jump1979man -1, +2 will give you exactly what you desire. http://www.riverwayracing.com/store/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/124 I agree... BIG difference in acceleration. Be careful though because the front end will want to stand up in 1st and second under hard acceleration, especially if you're talking about exiting a corner while in full gallop...

i had the stage 1 kit on my 01 f4i, first which is -1, +2, and it was good, i don't think i lost any top end, but then i put the stage 2, which is -2, +2 on it and i think it is great for the so cal canyons it pulls so much harder now. you do have to have a lil bit more careful with throttle control though, becuz it seems a bit more twitchy now, but not 2 bad. yes under hard acceleration it does want to bring the front end up, especially in 1st, 2nd is great though. stage 2 sux on the freeway now though becuz at like 80mph i am turning like 9k-10krpm. and i think i can only top out at like 135-140mph. but i also go to the amature drags and with the front end strapped i turned a 11.6@118mph... so if your willing to deal with it on the freeway, i think it's a great everywhere set up
