Hey all you smart, experienced CBR peeps out there. I just bought a used 03 954RR and I heard the stock seat can be tough on the hiney (especially when your 6'5" and about 210lbs aka "boney"). I am prolly gonna replace the seat. Which one is more comfy based on the forum's opinion. LETS HELP EACH OTHER PEOPLE!! LoL. Thanks - James (AKA - PHAST JWD)

Hey James,

It's not that this forum is WEAK...it's that if people don't have input for your post, they're not going to reply.

I saw your post about "buyer's remorse", (I too recently bought a 954), but my experience didn't apply to yours, so I didn't reply.

I have the stock seat on my 954, (I'm 6'1", 200lbs) and I've gotten used to the stocker. I have owned a Corbin seat previously (on my VFR) and it was very comfortable. No experience w/ Sargent.

Happy Riding

Hey thanks for the reply RUMBLEFISH, I can appreciate what your saying. I was venting a little. You know how it is when you need some insight and nobody hits the reply button. I guess I am a little whiney. I will probably ride the stock seat (bike still at the speedshop) and make my judgement then. I just got a call today from the shop and they told me the rear footpegs will not work with the tri-oval Carbon Yosh full system. My girlfriend is gonna be pissed!! I will probably end up putting it on ebay and buying a slip on and replace the rear footpegs back so she wont go sideways on me. Thanks again......James

It's all good bro. And I know how it is trying to keep the girl happy...lol

I'm sure you'll find something that'll work for ya'...The Moriwaki (the one I've got) works w/ the rear pegs

As for the 'buyer's remorse' thing...I used to have a bad habit of buying things and then looking around for weeks afterwards seeing if I could've gotten a better deal...Hell, I even had 'seller's remorse' after selling my VFR (I just know I could've gotten a few hundred more for it...lol)...I've since decided it isn't worth the frustration...

I have an '02 954 and i checked the sargent website but didnt find a part number for our bikes.
When i emailed them they said they could put the gel insert in from there kit for 125.00. i am
taking a long ride this summer and was looking for the same thing. i think the stock seat is also
the uncomfortable at best. i still love my bike. i am interested to know how you make out . let us know. Reesna has a corbin on her '03 but didnt say how she liked it.

I've put a Corbin on a '93 RR, and a '96 VFR; I went back to stock because the Corbin is noticably wide and had nut crunching slope @ the tank - very noticable under hard braking situations.

I hear and see better things regarding the Sargents seat. A buddy has a 996with one, another on a 954, and one on a RC 51 love theirs.
I've got one ordered for my '05 RR

Cheers

PS: Interesting to note when I polled my vote it was evenly devided 33%-33%-33%.

Well, in anticipation of the ride to Laguna Seca, I purchased a Corbin seat for my 954 (got a new one off ebay for $185 delivered) So far I'm very happy with it. On the 954, the Corbin slopes up at the tank...unlike the stocker that slopes down into the tank.
For me, the Corbin is much more comfortable. I don't find myself shifting around in the seat...like w/ the stocker. To each his own I suppose.

i got the Corbin after riding my 04 1000rr for about 7hrs...Damn that hurt...The stock seat sucks.
So far I love the Corbin. Nice and soft and my rear side loves it too...lol..
If you ride any type of distance, get the corbin. I don't know much about the other but hear they are vary close to the same.
