By riding.

If you're asking how to remove, get some bug cleaner for cars or just wax and scrub like crazy.

i couldn't resist...Well usually high speed riding will cause this effect. If your really lucky you will get the occasional sand and gravel dings as well. And small pits form in your paint.

On a side note is this topic reeeeeeeeaaaaaalllllllllly a thread worthy question. If you dont know how to clean a vehicle by now....?

lol I think my approach to cleaning my bike is probably pretty bad. Summer months, just constant riding and constant bug buildup. Until fall or end of fall starts coming around, then I start worrying about the bugs, and by then it's usually pretty bad lol.

best way to remove bugs from plastic, on helmets or bikes. get a bucket of super hot water soak a towel in it, put the wet towel on the bike for about 5 mins. it softens the bug guts and helps wipe them off. if they are still there repeat with fresh hot water until clean. i also use honda polish great stuff. but for real old dried on bugs the hot wet towel works great.

The best way to get bugs off without scratching your paint is to take a wet towel\rag and let it sit on the area for about a minute. Afterwards use some honda wax or similar to wipe down. I learned this from the Harley guys while at bike week. Works Great.

In between bike washes, just to remove bugs, and lite dirt. I use windex, and then rewax the area.

I have some stuff called REJEX. It was made to keep the bugs and birds off of aircraft. Now its been introduced to the auto world. You apply it about once every 4-6 months. When the bugs get on ur bike, they fall right off. You dont need soap or water to scrub them off, just a dry cloth to flick them off. It also protects the paint from rock chips and fading. Basically it forms a pretective clear coat ands virtually impossible to get off for a few months...=-) About 20 bucks a bottle, but ive had the bottle for a long azz time....=-)
