CBR's are designed to run with "neutral" airflow, that is they work best with "still" air going into the carbs. Best option is fit a single K&N filter in the box to improve airflow. If you fit Cone-type airfilters to each carb, the bike won't perform as well. K&N filter's  good for the life of the bike, and can easily be washed and refitted. It does make a difference........mainly on throttle response.

Thanks for the info. I just put a k&n filter in it and cleaned the carbs. I had doubts about room for separate filters plus they would cost alot more than the canister filter. Just curious : ]

Wouldn't a mixture adjustment be necessary if we change the air flow rate with the K&N filter, or do I have that wrong?
Thanks.

The bike is overjetted as standard, and changing mixtures shouldn't be necessary. My bike has aftermarket pipes on it with 2" s/s collector pipes, and even then the jetting is fine...still runs a bit rich at anything under 125MPH which is fine with me.
