yea i noticed that cruisin around on mine i have try to ride in like 4th gear at like 35 miles an hour (this is also with the rpms at like 4000 maybe?) i know when i was cruisin at like 60 (on the speedo which is wrong) so less than 60 i was revvin at about 5500 rpm in 6th gear, is this high?
i sounds like im gunning it but it just to keep it at the speed... this is also my first bike so it may b ehow loud sport bikes always sound, so i was just wondering is that was a high rpm...

also when you ge the speedo do you have to calibrate it? or do you just plug it in and it figures out how much everything is off automatically?

Your RPMS are normal...
You have to go through a series of steps to calibrate the speedo healer. I think someone posted a link to the web site that might help expalin the steps needed

ok, how far off is the speedo usually when you do this conversion?
i just want to know because i havent had time to get side by side someone i know and see how fast we are each giong (to find out how much its off)
and i def cant afford a speeding ticket, but it seems like when my speedo is at like 48 (in a 40) im getting passed by almost everyone... and i know most ppl go over teh speedlimit but this people are passing me like theyre going 10 mph faster than me... so i just wanted to know an approximate of how far it could be off...
is it like 4 - 5 mph, or is it more like 10-15 mph??

I am new to bikes, but I don't think it would work like that with gearing.  It would seem that the faster you go the furter off you your speedo.  I don't think you can say you are always 5mph slower than the speedo, when those numbers may be different at 35mph, 70mph, and 140mph.  It seems you may be 5mph off at 50, 8mph at 80, and 15 mph at 130.  Does that seem logical?

yea that makes sense.
so i guess what im askin is what is a typical percentage i may be off w. the -1/+2 vortex sprockets?
i just want to know because i dont want to be movin like a slug downt he road, but i dont wanna get pulled over either, so what is the average, or typical percent ur speedo gets thrown off with this set up?

Chain size, the 525 is larger and stronger, it is what the F4i come stock with, how ever the 520 chains work as well and are claimed to be lighter and there for faster....in a simple way of explaining it.

Thanks that helps. So, I assume that you'll still get the extra torque with the unspring weight...with -1+2 then, but still have some characteristics of being stock?

Yeah, you get the same ratio but the 520 chain is lighter....is it something most of us will notice on the street....i doubt it...maybe wear wise tho the 525 chain could last longer....but it is also a little more money so....had my bike not come with a 520 on it, I would have stuck with the 525

I just got mine done this weekend. D.I.D. chain and driven sprokets from sprocket center. I couldn't push it hard the front brakes aren't done yet should be done today but it is awesome, makes a big difference. I went -1/+2 520. I am glad I did.

so if the speedo is off by 20% then the odometer would be off by 20% too, right?
which means im gettin alot less miles per tank than i thought... whcih sux. lol

your MGP has to do with the increased RPMs after the gearing change. the % error on the speedo has nothing to do with it...cruising down the highway at 65ish the RPMs are only a few hundred higher...I dont think the change will dramatically affect miles per gallon...I personally ride my bike for fun with a heavy throttle. I do no commuting so this is not a concern to me

yea but if the speedo is off, thenwouldnt my odometer be off?

and if my odometer is off, then i really got less miles on my tank of gas than the odometer says. thats what i meant, i didnt mean the speedometer caused me to get less mpg i just meant that i got less miles than the odometer says

my bad, I thought you meant miles per gallon...you are right, the odometer will rackup the miles faster than what you actually have, meaning it will seem that you get more miles to the tank than you actually do
