But I Bought It
 
I was out today and ran into a guy and we got to talking and one thing led to the another. He was riding ZX 10 and said he had a 99 R1 with a bad transmission that he had been using for track days until the transmission broke and he was the original owner to make a long story short I went back over to his house rolled the bike off. Its either hung in fourth or fifth gear, but has plenty of power. According to the odometer. It has 8300 miles on it and it has a full body kit painted flat black however it does have a factory red upper fairing but there is also a a black headlight less one included all of the body panels are little rough, but nothing has a hole burn through it and apparently removed to work on the transmission. So I offered him $400 CASH and he signed the title over call the brother-in-law. And we carried it back over to his house

I don't think that bike is ugly...

It will have the HARDCORP potential, once you get your hands on it, so it will kick some a$$!!

we just got to figure out what's going on with the transmission  the gearbox is not my strong suit and come up with a decent paint scheme

definitely a steal, i got my zx12 for 500, but it was a totaled bike, great steal man

If they're anything like Honda's, their transmissions are simple.

Good deal HC....  hope you will be able to fix the transmission; I believe its going to be costly.

Then a new paintwork (go for the fairing red), maybe a new set of tyre and she is ready to blast!!

Did not get a picture today but these race compound tires are blistered and rubber caked at the chicken strip even if the transmission and paint run me two grand I feel like I'm ahead of the curve on this deal

no don't do digi marpat..it looks bad..ive actually seen a zx10 painted desert digi marpat..with a helmet to match..its lame...lol have also seen a hummer h2..even the rims  had the pattern on it...i ssay...now of course you know a million times more about this than me hardcorp...but thigns like that are just an unnecesary target indicator

R1's are sweet, it's the only other bike I ever desire.

Hell of a find.  If you ever want to sell it, I'll double your cash...[:D]

Carbed, right?  I'd just buy the gears and rebuild it yourself as a tinkering project - no hurry.  Have fun, congrats!

Yeah kid it is Carbed I really didn't think he was going to sell me the damn thing.  I had $400 and some change on me in cash and just made an off the cuff offer and he took it maybe he was just tired of it or something else was going on.  It's all water under the bridge at this point, though

Sweet deal Hardcorp!  I agree, even if you still have to dump some cash into it, you'll still come out ahead.  It's definitely got potential.
