Hi guys,
I'm trying to get back in riding. Sold my bike almost 3 years ago. I'm considering the 2004 600RR. I know a guy is selling it with less than 700 miles on it and also comes with extended warranty until 2008 I think, for around $6500. Never been down and complete stock. Do you guys think it's a good deal? thanks!!

IMO $6500 is on the high side of a decent deal but not a great deal. It is in fact the recommended Kelly Blue Book retail value which makes it a fair price but I've heard people doing better.

Just to keep an open mind, I think you might be able to find a brand new 05, which are the same as the 06's except for color, for another $1000 minus the cost of the warranty. 03/04's are awesome bikes but the 05/06 models have been upgraded a little with better brakes, forks, engine power, weigh less and have slightly different body lines. It might be a reach but if you are a real savvy buyer you might be able to buy a new 05 for $8,000 OTD with the same warranty, just $1000 more then you will end up paying the sellers asking price for the 04 plus tax. (Remember after spending the $6500 you will still have to pay tax to register it and depending on where you live that could cost you another $500.) Call around for new 05's and see how much you can get one from a dealer who wants it off their show room real bad. Keep doing your research and see what the market is like in your area. Region or where the bike is located makes a big difference.

Not sure how much money you have to spend but these are some things to think about when making your final decision.

Thanks guys for all the helpful replies. He won't go down to $6000. I will try to shop for a 05. For a $1000, I'd go for a new bike. :-)
I rode a ZX-7R before. Some guys told me I should at least get the same or bigger size engines. What do you guys think? I don't ride aggressively. More like cruising...

600 is good enough for that riding style unless you plan on taking passengers quite often. my 600rr is plenty strong enough.

i dont totally agree with the "always step up" philosophy. the zx7r was somewhat underpowered. i believe it was around 115 hp. the 600rr is just below that. and the added benefit of the fuel injection on the honda more than makes up for the difference. and you said that you are more into cruising. the 600rr will be more than you will ever need. just my opinion.
