i just recently go a 2006 F4i (i introduced myself in the new member section).

this is either a really dumb question or a really dumb design for a such a otherwise great bike as the F4i. from reading the manual (and a couple quick searches here), it seems the "fuel guage" does not come on until you actually hit reserve. then the bars come on and show how much "reserve" fuel is left. Is that correct? so, it's really not a fuel guage and does not show fuel level until you hit reserve?

the bars do come on with the rest of the lights, etc.. when i turn on the key but then no indication during regular rideing. am i missing something or is this some new design marvel with the F4i. i guess it is sort of a nick pick but with all the other wonderful features of the F4i, why not a fully functional fuel guage. It's mostly already there so why not use it?

thats the way it works.
4 bars to start your reserve
Then it goes down untill you run out of fuel.

I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but I like the reserve gauge rather than the fuel gauge. You only really need to know when your almost out of gas on a bike. It lets you know roughly 50 miles ahead of time that your going to run out. Thats just my opinion, keep an eye on it because the last 2 bars go really fast.

The guy that I ride with has an '01 F4i and he just loves it. I just picked up an '02, I can't wait until Saturday so I can finally see it in person. I agree these bikes are awesome.

One piece of advice Gary since it's a new bike... read the manual. There are a lot of details covered that might help keep you and your bike safe.

+1.

Also good idea to familarize yourself with the Honda Service Manual. But first, read the Owner's Manual from top to bottom. There's a few goodies in there.
