hey i do dirt or anyone got a leaky side cover on left side of engine.  took off plastic cover and the bottom bolt that holds the brass triangle part on. its leakin from there. but i dont see any hole. and the bolt is still tight. so thought i would ask the wise forum.

When I bought my '96 I had the same problem.  I've also seen numerous posts in here bout the same thing. My bike had been dropped and it forced the bolt you mention into the cover.  Not enough to notice, but just enough to put a hairline crack in it.  I did exactly what everyone in this forum said..... pull the cover off, JB weld the inside where the crack is, and then I made a gasket out of a manilla folder and ball peen hammer, used some gasket sealant and....Voila!!  a fix that only costed about 10 bucks!!
