I'm getting ichy for a nice summer ride but I want to make sure my summer rides go without any preventable incident.  Since us F3 kids have bikes that are 10+ years old, they need a little more TLC then the new RR's rolling around.  So that I don't get stuck with a fat tow bill, I like to do a good tear down just before the weather warms.  When I say tear down... I mean a tear down.  Currently, my bike is just a engine with a frame sitting on it.   I would have posted some pics but my camera battery was dead.  I'll get some up tomorrow after work.  I am going through every thing, the rear end, the front end, cooling system, brakes, spark plugs, and a vavle lash check (hope there is no need for adjustment).  I've pretty much torn the bike down to the point where I can start inspecting and begin the valve lash check which should be a sinch  .  Like I said, I'll put up some pics tomorrow so you guys (and gals) will see what the hec I'm talking about.

Damn.  You show that bike some major TLC don't you.  Good luck with that and enjoy the warm weather.

That would be fun to sneak in a 1K engine in there, but for now I'm going to stick with what I got.  Maybe I'll save that for when I have money and a project bike.  It really hasn't taken me any time at all or specialized tools to tear my bike down to this point.  I've got some rust that I need to tend too.  Going to be sanding on the frame and then painting.  I also wanted easy access for when I do a vavle lash check... I just hope there is no need for adjustement.  Your right Jules, I am thorough with my preride inspections.  Mainly because I hate to do things twice and I don't trust stealerships.  I'll put up pics as I go along.

Congrats on the work man, I love to see things like this were the owner takes it on themselves to make sure the work is done right. I'm not going to be digging that deep, but I hope to be going thru my bikes in the next month.

I also go through the bike so much is because it's almost got 50K miles on it.  Want to make sure it'll last another 50K.

Wow that's impressive! Good work. Wish I had the patience to do that kind of work to my bike.

Same here ... my bike has not seen a dealer since she was new ... I do all my own servicing ... that way I know it's been done properly and I save a small packet :-)

Yes do put up pics as you go along please ... I love reading about others' restorations and projects ..seeing the finished work :-)

Jules

Here is a small update, the bearings in my swing arm are rusting    .  I'm going to replace them since they aren't that hard to get out.  Luckily I found a place in OR that sells them for just a fraction of what Honda wants for them.
jahnaboi, I really like how you painted the frame black.  I did that with a buddy about 4 or 5 years ago on a project bike.  The end paint job on the bike was like the F4 orange and black.  What paint scheme are you looking to go with on the fairings?
