Not looking good in AMA & FIM

CYCDUP -> Not looking good in AMA & FIM (3/17/2008 7:20:54 PM)

The CBRs aren't looking good in the 1st outings in 2008...[&o]

Jaybird180 -> RE: Not looking good in AMA & FIM (3/18/2008 6:50:28 AM)

I wasn't impressed but I wasn't disappointed either.

CYCDUP -> RE: Not looking good in AMA & FIM (3/19/2008 11:54:10 AM)

I was @ least hoping to be in the Top 5 in Daytona. It was sad to see all the 600RR drop out but Hayes & then he was disqualified. Checa seems to be doing ok in SBK. So hope there is a steady improvement as the season goes along.

Jaybird180 -> RE: Not looking good in AMA & FIM (3/19/2008 11:56:39 AM)

So Hayes was DQ?!?!?  That must be why I got email alert from SPEED saying Kawi was 1-2.  What's the DQ for?

Jason748 -> RE: Not looking good in AMA & FIM (3/19/2008 8:44:57 PM)

Non-Legal crank... Material had been removed and parts other than the bearing surface had been polished and coated and that's a big NO-NO!  From what I've heard since the Daytona group bought out AMA they will actaully be enforcing all the rules now, including the factory teams! - maybe we'll see a more even playing field now.

Artice from RRW
Erion going to appeal DQ

FINALLY someone who cares about the friggin' rules!

woodyracing -> RE: Not looking good in AMA & FIM (3/20/2008 12:32:24 PM)

I'd say its mostly because Honda makes the teams wait SOOOOO long to get the new bikes.  Everybody has to scramble to get their crap together and it shows in the results.  The "factory" WSBK went into the first WSBK round with just a basic HRC kit on the bikes.  Its really sad when one of the top teams in the paddock on the world level of racing has to decide on raceday whether to use the old bike from the year before or the new bike because they didn't have time to test on the new one...

its the same in the AMA every year, they always show up at the Daytona test, the biggest test of the year with bone stock motorcycles and try to throw some aftermarket parts on really quick

pathetic

TWISTED METAL -> RE: Not looking good in AMA & FIM (3/20/2008 12:50:30 PM)

lack of testing...prolly won't be till middle of the season b4 they really figure parts out....

seems like this is the year of ducati...in wsbk

and who is gonna keep up with zuki in ama....only way zuki  is gonna be off the podium is when ben goes to motogp and mladin retires. don't think even if ducati gets back in the ama with a 1098cc will they give ne comp towards the suzuki riders.

Jaybird180 -> RE: Not looking good in AMA & FIM (3/20/2008 2:18:03 PM)

You got the remaining Hayden boys to contend with.  Then it looks like Pegram is getting his game-face on, and he'll probably get mad Ducati Corse support.

It also seems like Ben Bostrom finally got that vision thing work out too.

Zemke hasn't been much the same since his daughter was born.....

I guess I'll be a race fan looking for a racer.

CYCDUP -> RE: Not looking good in AMA & FIM (3/28/2008 12:11:08 PM)

It is SAD!!! Your right Honda waited til the last minute to allow teams to get their bikes. I would think since the NEW CBR 1000RR is so UGLY they would want it to WIN to boost sales... Also, it looks like AMA will mimic NASCAR so the playing field will be level so hopefully we won't know who's gonna win every race. I think the promotion of AMA Super/Sportbikes will get better. [:D]

Jaybird180 -> RE: Not looking good in AMA & FIM (3/28/2008 1:02:20 PM)

I was at the Honda dealer Wednesday...U know what their marketing scheme is: The bike is going to have street cred when riders find it can beat a Stock G1K....then Suzuki in 2009 is going to make a POS to try and beat it, thereby securing Honda on top in sales again.

Far fetched IMHO.

CYCDUP -> RE: Not looking good in AMA & FIM (4/6/2008 2:17:22 PM)

Thats a odd strategy, but this week Checa had a decent race... I guess we'll see how it all airs out.

Harpat929 -> RE: Not looking good in AMA & FIM (4/7/2008 7:10:16 PM)

I'm not sure if the parts have finally arrived or the track just suited the rider, but the Honda Hannspree WSBK team had the strongest offering despite the finishing results.  If anyone watched the race you couldn't help but believe that Carlos Checa and team provided the spectators with perhaps the best spectacle of what happens when you come from 4 seconds or more behind the leader to going for the win in the last corner....all or none....only to finish 5th after crashing.......R U KIDDING me????  Clearly Carlos and the HONDA stack were the fastest duo on the track!  My hats off to the Hannspree team for this past weekend but look forward to the remaining races to support my belief that 2008 should be Honda's year to reclaim the title.

Jaybird180 -> RE: Not looking good in AMA & FIM (4/8/2008 9:57:12 AM)

+1 on that.  Let's see what the AMA squad does with the bike this year.  I still wish they had Jake.

CYCDUP -> RE: Not looking good in AMA & FIM (4/9/2008 9:53:11 AM)

+2 This past weekend in Spain looked GREAT for Honda with the Super Sport & Super Bike. Yeah, the results should have been better, but I did like the improvement in the race results. I'm hoping these improvement will be seen in AMA. I would @ least see Honda be in the hunt for a 1st place finish instead of is it gonna be Spies or Mladen all the time.
