iliana is a 01 929 and runs great most of the time but sometimes the battery died out in the middle of my commute. does not happen very often but is a pia pushing her home. i wonder why she dies so sporadically, like today, it was running fine the whole week and started fine when leaving work and all of a sudden it died half way home. had to pushed it home and it was so embarrassing when people looked at me, heck there was even this asian girl who smiled at me i bet she thought "poor thing, pushing his awesome bike home". any thoughts?

If it's a brand new battery, my guess would be something with the charging system (alternator, regulator/rectifier). 1) Use a multimeter to check your battery voltage with the bike off. Should be between 12.3-13.2V. 2) Now start the bike and let it warm up. 3) Rev the bike in neutral to 5000RPM and measure the voltage across the battery again. This value tells you what voltage your regulator/rectifier is putting out while the bike is running. It should be more than the initial voltage measurement, but less than 15.5V. Report back what you find.
