Need new gear but not sure what size? Yeah, me too. And shopping online is unbeatable for getting the best deal, but damn, finding the right fit is a crapshoot--nothing is more annoying than an RMA.

It's not too practical to go to the dealer every time I need to try on something, usually they don't have what I want anyway, and every manufacturer has slightly different size charts (Euro size versus US size, etc)...so, what to do.

Well, some web stores have gear review sections where buyers indicate their body size and how well the particular item fits or doesn't...so how about we do the same thing here. Tell us how big or small you are, what you bought, and how well it works--especially compared to the sizing chart.

Take my gangly ass, for instance. I'm about 5'11" and 160lbs--zero gut, but a little big in the head, hands, and feet:

Helmet: a Large fits well inside Arai or Shoei.

Gloves...normally I'm a large, but Alpinestars and Spidi I can only fit an Extra-Large

Boots. US size 10.5 cause I'm a tad wide, but in Sidi or TCX, the Euro size 44 (US 10) fits comfortably snug--depending on which socks I'm wearing.

Jacket. Longish arms require me to get a Euro size 52 (US 42, or Large)--which feels great except Spidi seems a bit big through the waist and stomach (not enough pasta, I guess).

Pants. Also longish legs but a narrow waist make it hard to fit. Normally, in jeans I wear a 32 waist, 34 inseam so the hem bunches comfortably on my shoes. But with riding pants (not overpants or leather), I can fit Alpinestars textile pants in a Medium. Go figure.

And I haven't bought a full suit yet, but I suspect that a Euro 50 would be nice and comfy tight. Same with leather pants, since the bottom hem goes inside your boot anyway.

I didn't know about this. Thanks for referring me to it. BTW, definitely a good idea and everybody should do it. I added in what gear I have because I thought it would be better that way. Oh, and you would probably fit a 42US / 52EUR for a one piece.

I'm about 5'6 and my weight fluctuates from about 155+-5lbs. More on the athletic build. I like to workout

Helmet [AGV XR-2]: a SMALL fits well inside with all helmets. My AGV XR-2 helmet required some time. It felt REALLY snug at first and I wanted to return it for a bigger size. Medium would have been an exception in this case, but for the most part, I am a small.

Gloves [A* GP Tech]: a SMALL except with some Alpinestars stuff. I would fit a Medium, but the fingers end up being a tad long. I hate that!

Boots [Sidi Corsas]: US size 9-10. In Sidi, I wear a size Euro size 43 (US 9.5) and it fits comfortably.

Jacket [A* RC-1]: My chest requires me to get a Euro size 52 (US 42, or Large), but it seems a bit big through the waist and stomach. I would fit fine in Euro size 50 (US 40), but it would require a lot of stretching.

Pants [A* Track Pants]: I would fit fine in Euro size 50 (US 34). I know, I know...I'm unproportional.

Suit [JR Speedmaster/Spidi R-Course Wind Pro]: I have a size 52EUR/42US Speedmaster suit right now, but my lower body wants a 50EUR/40US. I am one of the unlucky ones that is between sizes. I'd fit practically perfect if there was a 41US. I am about to basically trade in my gear for a Spidi R-Course Wind Pro Suit in a size 40US, and I'm going to stretch the hell out of it.

Edit: I went with the Spidi GP Wind Pro Suit instead. 50EUR/40US fits great. I'm in the process of stretching it.

I am 5'9" with a very high metabolism and I weigh in at about 125-130. I also work out and eat a lot... Damn feels good to be in my lower 20's

Helmet [Arai Profile]: Medium fits me very well. The only other helmet I have tried is scorpios but man are they uncomfortable. A high quality helmet is definitely worth the extra cash.
Backup Helmet [Scropio Exo]: This is a large fits well but I can't get past the uncomfortable padding. Bought this as I was riding 2up for a photoshoot and needed a helmet for the girl. Since then it has become my backup helmet.

Gloves [A* GP Pro's]: Only gloves I ever buy, the medium fits me perfectly. Was a little tight when I first bought them but after a couple weeks they were awesome.

Boots [Sidi Sidi Way Rain Boots]: US 8.5. Fits me well, they were the only boots in the dealership I could find that fit me.

Jacket [A* GP Plus]: Euro 48, US 38. Fits nice and snug.
Other Jacket [Ducati by dainese 80's]: This jacket is a great jacket for the warmer days as it is pretyt much fully perforated. Got the smallest size they had on hand a Euro 50, US40. Fits very well, seems the dainese stuff is made a little smaller.

Pants[A* Track Pants] US 30. These pants fit me perfect.

All of this except for the scorpio helmet and the dainese jacket have been through two decent wrecks both at over 30mph. Thank god for the gear I tumbled instead of slid.. Stuff is still in great condition. The only rash I got was from when I landed on my hip and my boxer's scraped up against at me.... I was surprised how good of a mark that left, but nothing terrible. No broken bones just some really awesome bruises. Couldn't walk on my left leg very well for a couple days because of the bruises.

I'm 6'8" 260 lbs

Helmet -- XXL  HJC AC12 Vader (carbon fiber)
Jacket -- XXXL Joe Rocket Honda textile jacket (the red one everyone has)
Gloves -- XXXL Alpinestar SP2 (red and black with carbon fiber knuckle protection)
Shoes --- Size 17 Guess what... got a quote for custom boots at $1500 so I wear my over the ankle Columbia hiking boots instead...
Pants --- 38L X38W pants... again jeans are all that fit.  Can't find any leathers!
