I got most of the Fairings off. As well as the front end. I need to pull the engine and I have new fairings coming. Hopefully I will have the engine out this week. Brian

Yeah, projects! Kinda looks like the entire oil pan emptied onto the foor there... I pretty much went through a similar process, and the only way I managed was to clean as much of the bike as I possibly could. I'm not saying everyone should do this, but the satisfaction I received from massaging my bike back to working order would not have been possible without a gallon of Simple Green, water, and a dozen toothbrushes. Then again, no one but me has owned my bike, so it may be a unique requirement--but damn, it became grade A passion again when I finally put down the last rag... And you could never wear anyone out...restorations deserve attention and care, so please post continuously in your photo journal. Thanks Uncle!

I just bought a full set from a fellow CBR Forum member. When they arrive and I have a chance to look them over I will know better what I need. Thanks so much for the response. Brian

I got the engine out and on the ground. You can see the hole in the block where a rod made it air cooled. The job of pulling the engine was fairly simple, I found a post where a fellow member did a step by step. It really made it easy to follow. I'm at a stopping point until I get the fairings in and/or find an engine. Brian

ORIGINAL: rons93rr wow! how long did it take to remove you engine and how many bolts to remove? i have 2 cbr 900 both 93 both red, white and blue but i bought 1 crashed the other is mint. i have 98 percent of the body parts all after market and updated the fairings to 97 model, however my engine will not run won't even chug when trying to start. the starter just fires. when i got the bike it had a hole in the bottom of the oil pan. when i changed it i looked in side and it looked pretty clean i saw no metal shavings or pieces. i think that it may be siezed so i may take it out and have it rebuilt if it won't cost a fortune. i am into this bike for more than i paid for the mint one. be careful the cost can sneek up on you. good luck. I would be interested in a 97 front end the lights and all I would be willing to trade a CF overlayed front fairing with matching mirrors and a double bubble :) Sorry the HID's stay with me....
