ok so kind of a tech. question here:

Other than what seems to be a nice tone...What might the up's and down's of removing the can be? i mean, would it run rich/lean? bad idle? more?? just wondering and thinking of trying it out... I have a jardine slip ATM.... but just thought about switchin it up is all... anyway, could it be bad for the bike running it this way for an extened period of time?

no back pressure which in turns screws up ur internals which in turn means spending more money for goign cheap on a exhasut. if you want a good tone look at the sound files for the exhausts on this site

some people say that it will cause problems, some say it wont. while i havent had any experience with not running a muffler, i know people who have, and they have all had problems eventually. i would only run it if you know that youre taking a chance for something to go wrong.....

ya thats all bull! motorcycles are just like cars. you don't need back pressure! it won't mess anything up. thats why you can strait pipe cars and trucks with performance exhaust systems. just like the system on my bike it's all custom erion exhaust. and your back look right through my muffler. it just looks like a muffler so if a cop pulls you over he can't give you a bunch of crap. I say pull it! and see if you like it! but thats just me

As for street legal...you should check with you local law enforcement. The only law you could break in my state is disturbing the peace.

i want to hear one in person cause i'd love to get rid of the big exhaust can hanging off the side. it couldn't be TOO much louder than my D&D... could it?

Here in CA it would also be a fix-it ticket.

An open pipe won't necesarily hurt anything on the bike if the tune is right, but it could possibly degrade performance.  That depends on how efficient the old exhaust was and how it affects the fuel mixture.
