I just picked up an 84 CBR 400F2 NC 17. The bike was laid down. Lot of plastic damage, but runs very sweet. Having a VERY hard time finding any info on the bike. Don't know whether to restore or put a 600 motor in. If anyone knows the value of these rare bikes let me know. hvv44@yahoo.com.

It's obviously a Euro bike? I'm not sure, though not certain, that they were ever sold here. So my best guess is, yes, restore it! However I'm thinking it may prove costly to do it right. Whether or not it's worth it is relative and up to you. I can tell you what I would do... I WOULD RESTORE THAT BITCH AND TELL MY FRIENDS! Seriously, I've been looking for a neat little Honda or Aprillia to have some fun with. Mind telling us the story - how'd you come across it? Google shows basically three models. Full fairing, racer, and naked versions. I would go FF!!!

My uncle has one of those. I will call him and find out where he found all his parts if you still need some help.

A neighbor knew that I am into restoring bikes so he offered it to me for $200. His son brought it back from Japan when he was stationed there as a Marine. Bike was last on road in 1998. His son locked up the front brake while in a curve. So the damage to the bike is mostly plastic and rear lights. I spent three days working on the bike. Finally got it to run on starting fluid. Runs great! Sounds sweet! Just have to rebuild the carbs and hope to ride this summer. Depending on value I would like to restore and put in bike shows. The NC 17 was built from 1983 to 1986. 50,000 made and sold only in Japan. A few were imported out of Japan. The NC 17 is the only CBR 400 that is air cooled. 1987 and after are all water cooled. This is all I know about these bikes. My neighbor thinks that mine is 1 of maybe 10 this side of the Mississippi. Hope I can find a way to find out. DMV and Honda dealers won't help me find out. Good project bike. Looks like my old 86 GSXR.

That's a cool looking old bike-I would restore it the best you can and keep it. I love for a 1984 sport bike has a split tail, but my 2000 F4 has a NANA seat LOL!
