I got a '88 600 today. It is missing the lowers and side panels and has obviously been down. It has a large dent in the left side of the tank and a small scrape on the left side of the seat. Also the left rear set is cracked. That is the bad. Now the good. It has 10,100 miles on it. The motor runs smooth and quiet. The V&H exhaust is nice and loud. It just had total service, plugs, carbs, coolant, oil, clutch, fork seals, chain and sprockets. I ran through the gears by hand do to the rearset being broke, then rode second and third gear. Man, it pulls harder then my old F2. It is flat black which is perfect because I love the streetfighter look. It also has a new tinted windscreen. The kid I got it from paid $1,800 for it two months ago but mom told him "not on my house" so I picked it up for $850. I ordered a new rear set from Honda for $125. So for less than a grand I got a pretty bad little streetfighter. I am thrilled.
