KILLER EX -> exhaust servo (4/4/2008 7:57:28 PM)

can you unplug and remove the exhaust servo on an 05 when you install a slip-on ? will it cause any problems? thanks

If you just unplug it, your MIL will stay on, on your gauge set. Just tuck your cables up and away.

does thiis effect performance at all and do you have to secure the flapper open somehow

I took the cables and servo off. How do you get that stupid light to go out?

thanks for the suggestion of buying another servo, however i think there has to be something else to disable that light so that the eCU isnt confused. Are there any racers out there that have removed this thing???

You would think so , but other than covering up the light with tape all of your other options would entail spending more money.

Shoot this guy a e-mail , maybe he can help.

look over in the 929 thread, I am working with Sam Farris of Samanna Inc on a servo substitute for all 929's and 954's.  He designs and sells the same thing for Yamaha R1's and has had great success for the last  8 years.  I will be posting more info on the 929 thread, so stay tuned.

Also, for the flapper, just remove the entire thing (8 screws).  If you have lost power on either low or mid, then a Power Commander is in order to restore that lost power.  I have not had any issues with my 929 after locking the HTEV valve open, removing cables and flapper valve and am now working on the servo issue to remove the MIL light.  (Sam Farris is an Engineer w/ Eaton Corp and really knows his shit, so stay tuned.

AraCBR -> RE: exhaust servo (4/22/2008 12:46:38 PM)

ok...I am a little confused!

I installed a Akro slip-on last weekend on my 06 1KRR. I removed the cables (completely) from the servo, basically by unhooking them from the servo grooves. I did keep the servo on though. No lights in the panel.
I left it on because (it looked) like the same setup also assisted the rear seat lock/unlock mechanism. Is this not true?

anyways, end result: servo in place, cables from stock exhaust removed, no lights.

Did I do anything wrong? Should I in fact be seeing the malfunction light?

Your good , you did what most people do. [:)]

JK1000RR -> RE: exhaust servo (4/22/2008 3:06:36 PM)

thanks for the info. mga_ODEN i will contact your guy for some info. Spending some money isnt the issue, i am slowly turning this thing into a track bike just dont want to have un-needed crap on there:)

Pitbike, i will look into contacting your guy, I have a 954 as well so i am sure he could give me some tips on that one to. think i might just go with the ECU from HRC, i know that thing isnt looking for an exhaust flap, at least it shouldnt :)

AraCBR, man you are good to go, the seat/cowl lock isnt affected by the servo. Your ECU still shows the servo working so you dont get the light. Jardine instructions said unplug it so i just removed it (didnt need it).
