philly_rider -> 1000f riders.... (3/18/2005 4:16:52 PM)

hello fello riders: i just recently purchased a 90 1000f - cbr of course, and wanted to get some info for this bike. the bike i purchased has custom paint that needs to be redone. has anyone done this type of work themselves? I would love to make a project out of it, but just dont want to get in over-my-head!!! Also, I was reading a post regarding brothers twin exhaust pipes - could someone fill me in on those details, who, where to get these pipes, my stock pipes are rusted over. Has anyone attempted to change or modify any of the frame/plastics - like putting a blackbird 1100x tail on the rear of this 1000f bike? I think i'll inquire about that... that should be a very nice look...

wlcome to the forum

as far as you bike goes there alot of thing you can
do to it sometimes parts are hard to find but there still
out there

for the exhaust goes it is two brother racing they offer
full exhaust systems and a slip on you can go to their
web site and look it up they run anywhere from 400. to 800.
but you will have to jet the carbs

http://www.twobros.com/

the tail section i don't know the blackbird use to be the 100f
they changed the motor and some body work

but you should be able to put it on there with little mods

i'll try to help all i can

have a nice day

V&H also has the SS2R exhaust available, not sure of pricing anymore. Good sound and performance, with a little jetting of course.

If you end up with a new exhaust system and find yourself needing a jet kit, let me know. I have a Factory kit that is complete that I would like to get rid of. It was installed on my CBR for about a year, but I didn't care for it and pulled it back out. I prefer the stock needles and had to change the jets anyway with my big bore kit. It's complete and in th Factory box waiting to be shipped to a good home.

Jason,

What sort of big bore kit do you have?? I haven't seen too many done, but I know for a fact they make a huge difference. Just curious if you did the work or if there was a "kit" so to speak that you were had done to your bike??

Hi Red

I have a Wiseco kit. It not only brought the displacement to 1050cc, it brought the compression up to 12:1. I did the work myself. I wish I had taken some pictures while I did it to show everything. The previous owner had just abused the hell out of this bike. I either had to replace the cylinders or bore them out. I had a real tough choice! hehehe It runs like a raped ape now. It does like to get hot pretty fast in stop/go traffic though. I've got a K & N filter to clean up the intake however I've got a stock exhaust system keeping things corked up pretty well. I can't help but wonder how the bike would behave with a good exhaust system. I would like to do some slip ons if they aren't too loud one day. I had found a place in Canada that still made them but lost the contact info. I'm quite pleased with the results! Now, if I could just shave about 200 pounds off of the bike, I just might have a contender!!!!!

Jason
