I have a 96 F3. I put stock size Pirelli Diablo Strata on the front, it is advertised to have long life, fast warm ups and good wet weather handling. i have ridden recently on 40 degree mornings and after a block the tire is warm to the touch. The handling has been great. I got it mounted and balanced on my wheel for $130.00. The rear for $135.00 around here it was a good deal. Up here in the U.P. of Michigan we have plenty of cold wet mornigs in the sping and this time of year. They have been better thaqn the factory originals.

ORIGINAL: mike hunt pilote powers are not a good choice for your track days, they are too long to warm up.. they are good for commuting!! what tire pressures are you running at the track? The warm up time is quite short compared to other street tires. If you plan on doing any aggressive riding (whether the twisties or the track), I do not suggest getting a size bigger than the stock size. It'll slow down your turn-in and you're contact patch will only increase at extreme lean angles. 32 f. 42 b. the weather is an issue too i forgot!!

My bike calls for 42 psi in the rear, 36 front. Why do you want to put 30-32?

At the 36/42 (f/r), your tires will never heat up enough. But, as always, there are tradeoffs. While you get the best grip at these pressures, you get sh!tty mileage. Keep in mind that the factory recommendations are for things like long tire life and full loads (e.g with a passenger).

True. It has to be safe with the bike fully loaded.. to the max weight.

I am currently running the Metzler M1 in front and the M3 in the rear. The M1 IMO is the stickiest tire for the street. The bad side is the rear tires wear out freakishly fast. Using the M1 on the front lasts a long time and is super sticky so I will stay with that. I installed the new M3 for longer life on the back. I Have run the M3 and M1 set up on the track as well as the street. The M3 in my opinion will meet all of the performance needs on the street and lasts a long time. While on the track two guys that day in the race class passing me. One was Ti Howard; I don't think I would get near him even with race tires. Ti is a privateer and races in the top 10 of AMA. What I am saying is I pushed the tire hard and it did well. I had a few rear tire slides while hitting the gas passing but it felt good and controlled. On the street the M3 has perfomed well and I am very happy with the wear. I still am riding the tire and want to see how it performs over time. Many of the new tires seem to last longer but seem to lose thier grip at 50% - 75% of the tread wear. Well thats what I have found. I like the M1 - M3 Combo I would like to try the new dunlop Qual next set. My .02
