Allright, here's the story, I shipped my bike from the states with gas in it, because the movers came a little early, and I couldnt run it out. Four and a half months later, I got it in Germany, drained the little bit of gas left in the tank, and filled er up. She starts without any choke(rich?), and runs 1.5K for about 2 mins, then gradually, as it warms up, goes higher in RPM's, till about 5K which is when I shut it off! If I give it gas at all it'll hesitate, then give a weak rev. I tried just riding it around the block, and it ran allright at higher 6-8K RPM's but wanted to rev to the moon at every stop, till about 8 mins later when it will die if I let it get too low on rpm's....? I figured I had gummed up jets, but wouldnt that make it run lean? If I give it choke at any time it will die. I started to remove the carbs to clean them, but saw what a PITA it's gonna be....Sounds like a partially open choke maby? Any suggestions before I tear into this thing? By the way, it ran like a top before I shipped it and I've tried every gas additive here in Germany lol...Sorry for the novel, I really dont know about 4-strokes, I ride mostly oil-burners lol Thanks!!!!!

Ok. Starting without choke is a good thing. Adjust your idle rpms all I think you need to do.

What is the altitude difference between there and home?  How long was it in the air or did it come by ship?

Might make a difference in idle adjustment and/or jetting/mapping.

Well, the idle adjustment screw was adjusted till it fell completely out without any difference. It just keeps revving up. The altitude difference is 2000 feet or so, and it came by ship, but as far as how long it was on the ship I dunno. I would assume most of the 4 months.

I would check to see that no cables have been kinked or damaged. Aside from that I'm thinking the gummed up carbs could have stuck a float or something.

I see - well is the elevation higher or lower?  See where I'm going with this?  Most likely you will need to rejet your carbs.  You might also consider some dyno time to get it right.  Don't remember if you said you have a slip-on?  If so and you still have the stock, play around with them both on the dyno with a jet kit.

Did you get your idle adjuster back in?

Also - are you positive that the bike was completely warm when you began fiddling with the idle?  It needs to be if it wasn't.  Also sounds like gummed carbs - as was said.

Clean/then jet carbs and you'll probably see a world of difference.  Was it exposed to the air at all on the ship, I woner?  I would imagine it would be in a closed room but you never know I guess.

Good luck man.

OK so I went and go tto the point where the airbox was alomst off, and I saw the slides. I sprayed a crap ton of carb cleaner down there, with the slides up and down, and put it back together. Now..It wont start unless I give it gas, and keep the rpms up. Then it'll only warm up to 2.5k....not 6 or more. By warm up I mean till the fan starts running. However if I give it any gas at all after it gets a little warm, it'll start it's bogging ride to the moon again. Slowly rising upward till I dunno what. Also I noticed the exhaust is not as powerfull, like a cylinder is missing or something. If I leave the gas alone, it'll hover around 2-2.5k and sound semi-normal with a powerfull exhaust, meaning I can feel it coming out about 4 ft back. I guess theres nothing else to do but tear it apart. I just wanted to put my new 7 stars plastic on lol Thanks to all for their input!!
