well took the stator cover off last night & DAM it wasn't it! the motor is now turnning but now i think it's fuel.
i think that it may be the fuel petcock, it looks a little sh*tty (rusty) & i'm seeing no fuel in the fuel filter.

Might also be the fuel pump that crapped out on you.

when i bought my 94 the fuel pump was missing altogether. just a pipe from the tank to the carbs and it ran very well. i would clean the tank out and all the lines along with a good carb clean as a jet may be blocked if crap has got through the filter.

i have a newer tank now that's spotless, but i will check and clean all fuel lines
as well as clean the carbs. thanks,

I really hope you got this bike for free!  Sounds like and F---ing nightmare.  That being said you need to get a manual and start from the top.  Every possible explaination has been covered in this post so far and you need to go step by step through them.   As I see it at this point you have the starter engaging and spinning the motor, you have fuel flow to the carbs, and your carbs have been thoroughly cleaned and gone through?  If all thats good then you should getting something.  Let me know where you stand with this little project.
