A few weeks ago I installed my FactoryPro shift kit in my F2.  I thought I'd throw up a few of the pictures I took and offer a howto more or less as a supplement to thehowto ThirdGenLxi wrote up (http://www.cbrforum.com/m_464382/tm.htm) when installing a shift kit in his F4i.  Mine, unfortunately, will not be nearly as complete.  The memory of the process has faded somewhat and I didn't take nearly as many pictures as I probably should have.  However, using my howto in conjunction with ThirdGen's, one would be able to come up with a pretty good idea of how the process works.

Firstly, here is the shift kit for the F2.  It consists of only a detent arm spring.  The Shift Star EVO kits have a new shift star and a new detent arm as well as the spring.  A kit such as that is not manufactured for the F2.



Here's the cover with the fairings removed.  The oil has been drained.



Disconnect the clutch cable and remove the cover bolts.  After removing the cover bolts it may be necessary to use a rubber hammer to remove the cover.



Here it is with the cover removed.



Remove the clutch spring bolts and remove the clutch springs.



Then you can remove all of the clutch plates.  To remove the inner basket you'll need to use a screwdriver to unstake the nut holding the inner basket in.  Once you have done that then you need to use an impact wrench to remove the nut.



Don't make this process any harder than it has to be, use the impact to remove the nut.



Then you will be left with this:



Next you need to use needle nose pliers to remove the large collar around the shaft.  You'll need to use two pairs to pull it out straight.  There are grooves in it, providing a location for you to grip with the pliers.

What comes next is kind of confusing.  I had my service manual by my side (as should you) and also thoroughly read through ThirdGenLxi's shift kit howto and I was still a little lost until I started doing it myself.  I'll try and explain it as best I can. 

There are gear teeth on the crankshaft.  There are gear teeth on the outer clutch basket.  these need to be aligned in order for the outer clutch basket to slide out.  The problem is one can't see the teeth behind the clutch basket.  Therefore, honda has provided you with a small hole.  So you need to find this small hole on the outer edge of your outer clutch basket.  The service manual instructs you to stick a 5mm rod through the hole, I used a long allen wrench.  So you stick the rod or whatever you happen to be using through the hole, while turning the engine slightly.  You can do this by putting a socket on the bolt on the end of the crank, which is underneath the cover just to the right of the clutch cover.  It shouldn't take more than a half of an inch of rotating in order for everything to mesh.  At that point your rod will slide further back into the hole, and allow you to pull on the outer clutch basket and have it slide off and be removed.

Now you will need to go to the other side of the bike and unbolt the shift linkage from the shift ro
