I didn't think it had anything to do with emissions as it did opening the valve to full-open as it is when operating normally - the mods we're doing just keep it full-open instead of letting it return to "half-open" as it does when below 7K RPM's.

My impression was that the whole point of the mod was to increase flow to increase maximum top end and horsepower/torque while maintaining the low-end and killing the MIL.

I don't think you're being a dick at all, , hell I could be completely wrong!

I do know though, for 100% certainty that this whole mod came from the idea of more raw power.  Not emissions.

By the way, the flapper mod, since it works off the same servo of the HTEV, is pretty much necessary in the sense that it all works together - if you disable one the other should follow suit.

In any case I'm still interested to see how this new servo elimnator works.  Could be a HUGE market for these things if professionally packaged.

"full-open instead of letting it return to "half-open" as it does when below 7K RPM's. "

Agreed---MORE POWER---I don't think it is half open.  It is in words but in reality it is full through.  Here's the thing, I'll try it both ways, but it's my seat of the pants opinion.  I have no problem being the guinea pig if it helps a brother out in the end.  I got the time and equipment....The low end version is junk.  Anyone could figure that.  But between the mid and high end, I don't know.  It really runs great like that.  I just took the wifey out for her second spin around the block(not so into that), and could feel the loss of low end even more.  OK so I'll make up with -1+2.  Been going there even without the improved feel.

THX for not thinking I am being an ass or not taking your opinion.  The whole turbulence thing has me questioning.  Will try both, and really in the end I don't care so much about running 10K+rpm but my style is more having the uumph when I want it.

And the flapper, agree too it should only be done in conjuction with the exhaust.  The reason I say I don't think it did much is the airbox on the 929 is so big and has so much volume I don't see it restricting all that much.  When completely closed yeah, i.e. the rich smell at idle, but when it starts to open I think there's more then enough flow.

easiest, cheapest way to not throw a code you have to leave it plugged in even though its doing nothing, if your already throwing a code unhook your battery for a lil bit then turn it back on. to keep it open you leave the cables on and set them so its open, bend them over and tape/zip tie them so they cant move, it's what i did a long time ago and havent had a problem since.. I am getting some plates water jetted from a buddy and will soon be removing the HTEV all together with just straight pipes running in place of it just like the HASS eliminator. I will post up pics when i get the stuff. Hope that helps some

Kid,  still waiting on weather to be nice enough to ride and get some data with Sam.  Next step we are taking is to plug in a Yamaha servo motor and see if that works to eliminate the MIL light, then take some readings at 0-3000rpm, 3000-7000rpm and over 7000 rpm.  Then Sam can start designing the components for the servo harness.

I flipped mine and didn't notice a difference seat of the pants.  Nice work on the elim, I thought about making one but don't have the capability to cut the flanges without just plasma and grinding. Not so nice.  Have yet to try playing with the pc3.  Just not real comfy with it yet and playing around with maps.    Good news too, I never threw a code.  I would guess a hundred or so miles on it.

My bike came with a full Erion system and I've never seen a light/error code from the ECU. Bike runs silky smooth due to the custom mapped PCIII down low and up high. Does seem to get a "jolt" of power around 3k, but I'm used to that now. So I don't think there's any loss in low end if you make up for it with a good PCIII map.

My question tho is why don't I see the error code/light since the HTEV is obviously gone? If what you guys are saying is correct, then removing the servo should throw a code. I don't think the PO would have left the servo connected and just ziptied it somewhere to the bike. I don't know if there's some device that comes with the full exhaust kits to trick the ECU, but somehow it all just works.

Just wondering.

Your servo motor is still there if it's not throwing a code.  Removing the HTEV and adding a PC has nothing to do with whether it will throw a code if the servo is still plugged in.  Simply look to see if it's there or not.  On your knees, look at your left footpeg and then look up under the tank, it hides right behind the left frame spar.   There will be a 6 pin connector harness coming out it and that goes to the ECU.  If it's plugged in, that is why you still are good with the code light.

+1 and you may still have the flapper hooked up so there will be one cable still attached.  The flapper may be the jolt at 3k.

Metalhedd how about sending me your map if you have it downloaded?  Or have you compared it to the maps online for a full Erion?  I'm still trying to get fimiliar with the whole pc3 and mapping before I start playing.

Here is the latest update on the good R&D that Sam is doing:  We are currently doing some A/B comparisons to see how alternative servomotors differ in operation and are having good success so far.  Stay tuned to this forum and I will keep you updated on progress and when Sam will be ready to market a servo substitute.
