UPDATE:  Sam has the 1st prototype servo sub built and I will be testing it this weekend (eliminates the servo).  I'll keep ya posted.

Metalhedd how about sending me your map if you have it downloaded?

I'll get to work on that. It's one of the first PC's with the serial 9-pin connector. Same idea, different interface. I'll have to see if I can get a serial to USB cable to work. The USB interface is so much easier. I got a PCIII USB on my VFR so downloading and tweaking maps is a breeze. Dynojet even sells a LCD hookup now so you can tweak maps on the go. Gimme a few...

Ok guys....here is the latest on the servo R & D that Sam and I have been doing.  After many rounds of measuring voltages at different RPM''s and trying different circuits, it appears that Sam has finally hit paydirt !

I am currently running his 1st prototype servo replacement in my tail piece with an extension pig tail (for ease of accessibility) and after a couple days of throwing it every variable I could think of (load, rpm, gear, etc).....the MIL light has remained extinguished, the bike runs purrrrfect and there are no glitches to be seen.  Bear in mind, this is with my exhaust valve locked wide open and the flapper valve in the air box removed.

If you want to stay in the loop and buy one from Sam when he goes into production, email me directly and I will get you in touch with him.  This is for all guys who have either put on a full exhaust and have the MIL light, their MIL light is on because the servo is toast or simply want to open up the exhaust flow.  The stock servo weighs about 1-1.5 lbs and this replacement is about 4 ounces with NO moving parts.

KidCr3nshaw, I know you are waiting on this...so hit me up via email.  Webmasters, this may be work pinning for all to see, because it applies to all 900rr''s, 929rr''s, 954rr''s as well as the 600rr and 1000rr

WTG guys!  I would guess that to end up a hot product.  Let me know how much they are going to be.  My servo is still working fine and under no load so may be OK for a long time but wouldn''t mind having that on hand just in case.  I never did throw a light so must have got it right on.

Thanks for keeping everyone updated Steve!

About the only thing I have to add is that the Honda servo substitution will most likely weigh around an ounce. For a reference, Sam''s Servo Sub for Yamaha motorcycles weighs 26 grams (1 ounce = 28 grams).

Production is many months away. The reason for this is because a shift in production process will be taking place for the Yamaha product at the same time the Honda is being developed.

Insofar as pricing, for reference, the Yamaha product is priced at $99.95, but with a change in production process, that may affect pricing (hopefully a reduction, rather than an increase). An increase in price could very well price this product right out of the market before it even has a chance to get going.

UPDATE:

Prototype H01 has been in Steve''s bike since July 9th with no MIL light. Thursday evening we took oscilloscope traces for the purpose of optimizing circuit response so as to best emulate the Honda servomotor. Prototype H02 will be constructed with the optimized components and installed in Steve''s bike for long-term evaluation.

Production plans based upon H02 components will happen in parallel with the long-term evaluation so as to expedite units into production. The reason for this is because, based upon my experience, I see nothing ''new'' insofar as electronic components or packaging technology that raise longevity/reliability ''red flags''.

Thanks again Steve. I could not have done this without you!

Got a MIL and FI error today.  Is the FI light on normal with the MIL error? (Errors 9 and 35) 3 hours in the garage got it fixed...

01929er, you selling the midpipe valve replacement piece?

Thanks in advance

Problem came back.  Should I gut the HTEV and remove the flapper and live with the code for now?

EDIT:  Ok, now that I''ve read this entire thread.  Will be unscrewing and removing the airbox flapper, removing cables, and welding that sucker in place.  Any word on the servo eliminator avaiability?  I WANT ONE!  ie... PayPal is ready =)

One more thing.

I stunt, and at the practice spot keep my idle somewhere around 3.5k - 4k.  Any forseen problems on dead stop "dumping the clutch" launches?  Or how about keeping steady at idle in a wheele at somwhere near 2.5-3.5k?

Thanks in advance.
