Does anyone else have an issue with the 08 1KRR going into a false neutral from 5th gear to 6th. Every so often it wont go into 6th and revs up and slams back down to 5th. It's been back to the dealership 3 times now and none of their guys can get it to do it for them. Even my friend was able to get it to mess up on him, I was thinkning I may have been shifting a little lazy. So Thought I would get this info out here and see if it warrants further research.

I've been having some shifting issues. Several times it wont shift up (2-3) (5-6) mostly. I have to back off throttle, pause, blip it, then upshift again. Any thoughts? I've only had ducatis (dry clutch, straight cut gears, lower rpms, different gearing) till my '08 1000rr so I don't have experience with higher reving i-4s with constant mesh gears, but I wouldn't expect to ever not be able to upshift. Also had a weird thing happen today. I pulled in the clutch to down shift (2-1) but changed my mind since the cars started speeding up again so I just let the clutch out and it went into neutral -wtf?

i have had NO issues with mine. i think MAYBE what is happening to you is a result of the new two stage slipper clutch. you cant slam it in without reducing the pressure on the plates. you either have to use the clutch or be off the gas fully without clutch. not sure that you are having a serious issue or not. you may just need to adjust to the new clutch. it is possible that you have a defect though. just keep track of it and try to figure out "why" it does it when it happens.

sounds like "lazy shifting" I had it happen before on my bike just didn't pull up all the way and sat in between gears until I finished the shift.

thanks for the help guys. definitely not lazy shifting. It feels like it is locked out. I kickit up- feel no shift like I'm pushing against a wall I put even more pressure on the shifter but it doesn't move so I let it rev down (from only about 7 -9 K), grab clutch again, blip throttle, and shift again it goes. I'm going in to do 600 mile check up so I'll talk with them about it. I agree it's probably a clutch thing just not sure yet if I need to change something I'm doing or if it's an issue.

definitely not lazy shifting. in the April issue of Cycle World magazine, in the review they hit the same problem. Don Canet: "I couldn't find any fault in the bike when ridden at the pace that stock tires allowed, with one exception: I encountered an occasional stubborness with the gearbox when upshifting from second to third on the main straight, having to tap down on the shift lever to index the mechanism before the next upshift could be completed. Others reported similar shifting trouble, so it wasn't isolated to my assigned bike. Considering these were pilot-production bikes, barely broken-in, I can't imagine Honda letting that little glitch get into customers' bikes."

Good Find!!!! Thanks for the info! I guess they did let it slip into production. I'll have to have the dealer look at this week when I do the 600 mile service. I knew I was missing out when I never received my CycleWorld last month. Tried to get a replacement shipped but they just extended my sub by 1 month :(

So I was doing a trackday today and still have probs with shifting. It used to just lock out sometimes shifting up from 2-3 and sometimes 5-6, it still does that -NOT FUN on straight aways, but today it started not shifting to 1st gear from neutral at a dead stop. I would kick- no shift, kick-no shift, walk bike forward- kick-no shift, rev a little- kick no shift, shift upto 2nd - good then down shift to 1st- hard bang and in gear. It kind of bounced back when it wouldn''t shift. It did this probably 7 out of 10 times I tried to go after about 1/2 of the trackday. Also it hit a false neutral 3 times downshifting from 3-2 at around 6K RPM while braking for a corner - NOT FUN!! It also seems like it is really banging into the gears when I shift now. Any thoughts?? I''m taking it to the dealer next week, but wondering if anyone has had similar issues lately or what they think it is. Clutch? Trans? Shift Linkage?

red 08 smooth and solid from the day i took her home.. got around 1500 miles now with 2nd oil change, just getting better as miles pile on, the click is so faint on the upshift ,, that''s how smooooth it is,, only 1 missed shift from 1st to 2nd and that was due to fatigue, (lazy shift) 10 hrs of straight riding, at this point I just wanted someone to drive me home
