might be a loose battery connection.

^^^ something is loose

shizz -> RE: clock won't stop blinking (4/19/2008 8:58:36 AM)

checked batery cables good brand new batery im wondering if the fuse holder is worn and loses

KidCr3nshaw -> RE: clock won't stop blinking (4/19/2008 9:43:25 AM)

^Doubtfull about the fuses, possible, but I doubt it.

There is obviously a loosed/bad connection somewhere.  Pull your fairings and start inspecting wires.

Anything else happen when you loose your clock?  Loose gauges at all?  RPM's drop?  Idle drop?  Having any problems starting?  When did you replace the battery and why?

First thing I would do is check the BOTH rectifier plugs to ensure they are properly connected.  I had a similar issue and it eventually drained my new battery.  Luckily I found it before it killed my $127 battery.  If both plugs are connected, then remove your fairings and start checking connections.

Good luck, keep us posted.

everything works ok besides the clock it has done the blinking scense i got it in jan this year the stator and rectifier plug as been cut off when i got it so i wired toghether and soder them and the battery was old and it took a s%$t when i charged it so i got a new one like every thing else on this money pit   lol someone said it could be the cluster going out it is the second one the first one was broke this one has 36 k and the bike has 12k on title and the moter has 50miles on it after i rebult it ?????

same thing happened to my 929 it was actually the stator had it rewound & was fine hope it helps

shizz -> RE: clock won't stop blinking (4/20/2008 6:49:20 AM)

how do you do that rewound

vwmaniacvr6 -> RE: clock won't stop blinking (4/23/2008 5:34:59 PM)

Mine does the same thing, but it was in a wreck previously.  I had to splice the connection between the gauge cluster and the main harness, so maybe it is a wire in there.  I'll have to check the diagram when I get home tomarrow, but wonder if it's like a car radio with a constant hot line to save the clock/settings and a trigger to power up everything only when the IGN is on.  If that's the case, I'll jump +12 to that wire and test mine to see if it works and get back to you.

Thanks let me know

My problem is that I wasn't patient enough to wait for it to stop blinking before turning the ignition back off.  After figuring out that mine worked fine I did some experimenting for you and have some things you can check.

There is a 10A fuze, the last one towards the left side of the bike, that is for the clock only.  It gives the cluster 12V all the time through the red wire that has a green stripe in the corner of the main harness connection.  I would start by checking for 12V at the connector with the ignition off, if there is no voltage then check the fuze.  If the fuze is good and there is still no voltage, then there is a break in the wire somewhere.  If it is blown and you replace it only to have it blow again there is a short.  My clock kept time with the fuze pulled until I turned the ignition off and back on.  As a last resort, you can run a new wire with an inline fuze from the battery to the cluster directly.
