"I'm too cool to wear gear..." What an IDIOT! Seems like he only had a helmet, shirt and jeans...not even gloves for Christ sake!

I don't feel sorry for him in the least bit. It's been said over and over and over again to wear your damn gear. I hope he realizes that that helmet saved his life.

What about pants? I just bought a 2pc leather suit this year and I know I should but I just can't see spending 20minutes getting the whole darn thing on and sweating like a big to get to work 15minutes later and be smelly and sweaty all day. lol

I wear my textile jacket for riding to work and my short joe rocket gloves and my XL shoei helmet with my work shoes. When I go out riding now I wear either the top or both pieces of my leathers, gauntlet gloves and my L Arai helmet, and my racing boots. I only wear pants if I don't have a passenger, if I do then I just wear the jacket because how would I feel if we wrecked and she had all the leg road rash and I was ok.

Mike

The saddest thing about watching that vid was the fact that the guy did not acknowledge the fact that if he was wearing his gear, he would have suffered much less.

Gloves would have saved his hands.
Leather jacket would have saved his road rash.
Heavy denim jeans (not your 10yr old thin ass blue jeans) or riding jeans would have held up allot better.
Boots probably would have helped with the foot injury.

My guess is that he did not have the properly sized helmet on. I dont see how you can get your beak chewed up like that if you have the correctly sized helmet on.

If he was geared up, he probably would just have a totalled bike and a broken collar bone.

Now he has to go through countless hours of washing and cleaning that road rash. Not fun. More pain in cleaning then actually getting it IMO.

I dont belive his story for one second either. My guess is he was riding out of his limits and probably going way to fast.  I do feel sorry for him only because that looks ridiculously painful. +1 on wearing your gear

thing is, sometimes after a couple of month of putting up your gear each time you go out and nothing has yet to arrive, you start to be more careless and don't wear full gear.  THat's when the problems arrives.

I noticed on my jacket the other day, I had half a fly left on my left shoulder pad. Besides road rash...keeping the bug juice off you should be a good enough reason

Anyway, sucks for this guy to learn his lesson this way. Almost seems like the only way some people will learn. I know this guy with a harley who took a spill once. Last time he ever went riding without a helmet.

That music was gay, wish he would have showed some pics of the bike...guess he was a little too busy being messed up to take pics. I'm suprised that his pants held up as well as they did. I normally only wear my regular jeans when I ride. Still use my textile jacket with gloves and a helmet, and I try to always use my steeltoe Docs.

+1

add to it my icon field armor back/chest protection as i don't really trust the soft crap in the Joe Rocket jacket, I really should start wearin atleast the knee sliders I got in Austria since I don't like the look of the Rocket pants(they look like snow pants) for daily rides... or I should just invest in a decent pair of riding jeans to go w/ the rest of the daily riding gear(Rocket textile jacket, Teknic over the wrist/armored knuckle gloves, Arai helmet, and Ecco over the ankle boots)
