My bike left me stranded at the mall so after getting a jumpstart I took my bike home.  On friday I got a new battery and drove my bike, same with saturday, and on sunday i rode to work.  On my way home i stopped and my bike was dead again.  I got it jumped and when I got home it wouldnt start.

What should I do? Is it my alternator/?

Probably one of two things
1 regulator/rectifier is fried, or
2 the battery they sold you was a dud........
Check out the posts on the Forum, there are many dealing with the issue, but for a start:
1 Check the voltage on the battery, with the bike switched off.Should be at least 12.4 volts
2 Start the bike, and measure the voltage across the battery terminals, with the bike running at 3000 revs or more - should be from 13.5 to 15.5 volts. If it isn't, then either 1 or 2 above are likely what's wrong, and more likely no1 - reg rec is fried. Replacement is easy, but can be expensive. Maybe pick one up secondhand from a breaker.
CHECK PAGE 4 OF THE PREVIOUS POSTS - STATOR AND REG REC PROBLEMS......
Hope this helps....

Alternator or regular/retifier or a short somewhere keeping you from properly charging. Not necesarily easy to pin down.  Do a search here for the service manual which sould provide tests for your alternator and r/r.

i think mine has a hole in it? i looked inside and one of the terminals looked black and gooey.

there was also rust on the metal on the bike and the reg/rect i sanded it down on everything and put it back.

going to buy a multimeter right now

Regulator is fried - time for a new/replacement one.
Plenty of details as to where to find one on the Forum - Electrex.Uk etc
Remove any suspect (burnt)wiring when you replace the reg/rec.

How about this one? It's used, but it's cheap enough.
Only like a day left on the auction, too. I was thinking of getting it myself, just for a backup.

i ended up going to Rancho Cordova Motorcycle dismantling.(http://www.ranchomotorcycle.com/) I paid 80 dollars for a used one.

I sanded off the paint and applied the thermal compound used between a heatsink and processor and put on my new one and it's working now.
