Alright guys so here is the scoop I have an 06 600rr with around 5500 miles on it. Ever since I have had the bike I have only gotten around 36-38 miles on a tank of gas. Is this pretty normal because I expected to get around 40 if not more. Is there anything I can do to increase my gas mileage? I guess I could change my riding style but I dont usually cruise over 6000 rpm.

36-38 miles per TANK?  I have the same bike same year and get anywhere from 100-115 miles per tank.  Most of my driving is city driving to and from work.

I ride like I stole the bike and I'm right around 34 miles per gallon or so, but then again, I don't have stop and go traffic at all.

You're fine...I can't believe nobody assumed it was a mis-type!??!?! Anyway, my '05 was getting 36 mpg with ~13,000 miles on the motor after I learned how to ride it. When I first got it w/5000 miles, and didn't know how to ride, I was getting about 31 mpg. The '07 is getting about 40 mpg. I do/did 70% stop/go driving and the rest is crusing/highway with both bikes.

On weeks where I took long, relaxed rides through the back country..........I can usually squeeze JUST under 180 miles/tank. The majority of the time, I'm averaging about 125-140 miles/tank.

You must ride very similar to me, because I get pretty much the same exact mileage

People put gas in their bikes at different times, I think that contributes to the fluctuation in numbers.  I know my light starts blinking at about 125miles, but there is still a lot of gas left.  I usually do about 150 miles and then fill up the tank with like 3.9 gallons, so there is still about a gallon left in the tank.

Ditto on my 2004 600RR...sometimes less if I'm cranking it.
