sweet btw, the 54 is STILL the lightest of the fireblades (yes, including the 08). I find it interesting that the 954 weighs the same as an 02 gixxer600

haha, my room has an 02 GSXR 1000 and is none too pleased with this article, and i with the 02 CBR 954 am very pleased with the article, so we have decided that were going to have to settle this on the track this summer to see whos really gets better times from rookie track riders.

Hahaha Thats funny. I have rode pretty much all the Gixxers up to a 07 and from what I believe is the 01 Gsxr1000 was rushed into R&D in effort to keep Suzuki’s sales up with the R-1. Yes the 02 Gixxer has a great motor but the chassis was pretty much an outdated design passed on from the 96-99 SRAD 750s other then little changes to fit the new motor and such. The GSXR1000 did not receive a real chassis update till 03 and the 750-600 received a similar update in 04. Im not brand loyal, my last back was a Gixxer750 and I still own a gixxer600 along with my 954. Ill ride any brand but im not to fond of Kawasaki. Did you and your buddy ever run them down a long road? can your 954 hang?

well its not really comparable right now, my 54 will smoke his gsxr at lower speeds right now because its down geared a ton(-1 front +7rear), but i know he would be pulling away really soon after 110-120 or so, im going to put it to-1 front and stock rear then it will be more comparable. my last bike was a 99 gsxr 750 and the 954 is so much more solid and 100 times faster. i like his 02 gsxr though, newest i have rode is 04 gsxr 1000 and that was a beast, i really like the hondas and suzukis, yamis and kawis just dont do it for me. so i dont know what the next bike will be, either a 1000rr or a gsxr 750/1000, whatever i find a good deal on, i only buy if its a killer deal, like my 954, $2300 total paid for it my favorite bike for the money so far. im going to make a new thread with the before and after picks of my 954, its almost complete. riding it with no air duct covers and no front fender at the moment because i have been spending all my time riding and not working haha, cant help it when the weather is this nice. all i need now is a minty fresh tank...on the search still.

finally got a chance to run against the GSXR 1000 and, with the 54 down geared it was.... awesome heh. I had to lay on the tank and be gentle with the throttle but i was gone. let off when my speedo was around 140 which is really about 90-100(down gearing throws off the speedo). but the GSXR was eating dust.

haha i know the outcome, He is a better rider than me and then put him on the faster bike, it will be even less of a competetion. He rode my bike and said that he was glad his was not down geared like that because its just too tempting at every stop and every corner. Im putting it back to stock gearing or -1 in the front though, I do a lot of long distance trips and i went 180 real miles(columbus to dayton and back) over the weekend and it read somewhere in the three hundreds on my trip meter and i cant have miles racking up at twice what im actually riding.
