About to do my first oil change on the bike (minus the 600 mile service done at Honda) Which oil is a great choice? Honda says to just use their oil (duh) but what about synthetics- I am a M1 synthetic junky for my car, is there an equivalent for the bike? Or is there something else that has great performance for you guys? I will stick with the stock Honda oil filters for the life of the bike just to play it safe.

Shell Rotella-T Synthetic 5w-40 (blue container, not white), $16 / gallon at Wal-Mart. Here is a link if you want to read more about this oil--> click I prefer this over Repsol Synthetic and it is a lOT cheaper!

You're right Tahoe. This is only my second year with my bike, and I bought it used, but my buddy has just bought a brand new Suzuki and I remember hearing the dealer tell him to run regular oil through the bike untill it has been broken in. After the break in period he said run whatever you like, regular or synthetic. Thanks for catching that one Tahoe.

i'd stick with dino for at least up to 4K. problem with synthetics is that it works too good...get a 16K bike running all synthetic since 500 mile (supposed break in period) and find that the engine is the same as if it was never broken in...

muahahah...IDK... i definitely wouldn't do it at 500...but for high revving bikes...i THINK 4k is good...but if you want to be safe, you can wait until 8K...but it's all up to you!!! it's not going to hurt the bike any to wait longer...and not to wait that long, you won't notice the difference either you know? so...it's up to YOU...and your badass bike...07rr baby........
