Ok so i just took my carbs off and they are a bit more dirty then i expected but oh well. My question is on the outside of the carb theres alot of dirty grude, can i just hit that with carb cleaner or do i have to remover all the rubber hoses and other stuff? Heres a few pictures, some of the springs are gummed up. Let me know asap

Naw you could probably just hit it with some carb clreaner and it will be fine. Make sure you don't lose those little springs that are by the tabs for adjusting (syncing) the carbs; they can pop out sometimes and they're super important.

The exterior of the carbs doesn't matter as much as the internals
although those springs shouldn't be restricted too much either. If
you have no trouble removing the rubber boots and putting them
back afterwards, it wouldn't hurt to do it and do a good cleaning-up
job.

On a sidenote, try to put a break between those pics when you post
them, I'm sure most people don't have screens wide enough to view
them all without scrolling from left to right

Ok so the cleaning was heavily needed, but bike still wont start. So my next move is check spark so forth, but what size socket do i use, i tried a sparkplug 5/8 but it seems it didnt want to grab.

I think for 1987 you need a thin-wall 17mm. Maybe 19? Can't remember. If you have the the stock tool kit there's a spark plug socket in there that's PERFECT.

Ok well i played with it for a while, and it started up and its running, seems better then before, due to i can turn it off and turn it right back on. But the exhuast sounds more aggressive, and not as high pitched as from before, is that normal?

After you clean the carbs, it's normal that it runs differently, especially if you really cleaned everything, including taking out the pilot screws. As a result, you would need to re-adjust your mixture and idle and if you can, sync them.

Mixture yes And sync. I see that you took the carbs off of the large Aluminum part of the airbox, so it might have changed your sync, and one or more of the cylinders is not getting as much gas as others. If some of your headers seem hotter than others, that's a clue.

Also, check those little springs I was talking about, and make sure none of them fell out. Losing one of those little springs will change your carb sync DRAMATICALLY.

The spring I'm talking about is the one directly in the center of your first pic, there's three total.

I would check the rubber boots between the carbs and cylinder head. Make sure the carbs are installed correctly and the rubbers well tightened. If you have any leaks, it will make it run like crap.

yeah, what dalex said for sure. An easy way to check: with the bike running, spray carb cleaner all over each boot. If the engine sound changes (revs up a little bit) then you have a vacuum leak on that boot. (The vacuum is sucking the carb cleaner into the engine, changing the rpms.)

cbreric it still cant idle below 1500 rpms it dies, and theres alot of play with rpms when idling it bounces back and forth about 200-300 rpms.

Gogar im positive all the springs are there. & i will try out the carb cleaner test in a bit let you know!
