Becareful when you fill it. You really shouldn't go beyond the bottom of the filler neck. You have to allow for expansion. Too much fuel and you also risk saturating the charcol canister if your bike is so equipped. I know on my Brutale 910R, if the cannister gets fouled with fuel, the bike will run like crap until the canister is cleared.  The extra fuel your cramming in isn't worth it if it's going to go out the over flow tube or get sucked into the canister, IMHO.

How much do you guys pay for gas. I live in Petaluma California, and this is what the prices were this morning.

Krokus, only CA motorcycles have those canisters and emissions systems as far as I know. I always make sure I ride a few miles after fill up though as I know what you are talking about with expansion.

Filled up my truck for the first time in a week and a half yesterday. Paid $3.39 in the morning. When I went home gas was up to $3.75 for 87.

Well gas prices have gone up again today in California. I paid 4.07 a gallon to fill up my bike, and 4.69 for Diesel for my F350, which takes 42 gallons. Heck, even Propane is 3.99 a gallon here.  I can't ride my bike, drive my truck or BBQ cheaply anymore. Now if they raise the prices at the *itty Bars, I'll really go off and blow something up. Enough is enough already.

You're kidding us right???!!! Anything over about $3 per gallon is pure gouge. We are financing our own destruction. If we don't do something about this greedy crap now the muslims will OWN us. I have only one quote for you "Exxon/Mobile posted record profits throughout 2007 and into the first quarter of 2008"

Okay...Yesterday I had to drop off some papers up to Seattle. I actually let the fuel go down enough for the engine start to cut out...I then turned it to reserve just to get to a gas station. I filled up...I got 3.5 gallons in up to the filler cap. This was the lowest I've ever let it empty. Prices were 4.09 for premium.
Peace out!

On the SW corner of 74th and Orchard (almost lakewood), the Chevron there is usually 10 cents cheaper then other places AND has the 93 octane.  It were I gas up my talon and my bike.

On topic:  Since this thread started, I filled and have been riding to see what I get.  I am at 120 miles now.  No sputtering yet.  I have a full exhaust, Uni filter, jets, and the pingle petcock.  Guess we'll see what happens.

I don't know what the deal is but I filled up today and am still getting super gas mileage. 46.5mpg and it's already been well over a thousand miles since my last oil change. Everything on the bike is the same too. Only thing different vs what I had last year is a different than Honda OEM oil filter. Last year my mileage went up that high right after I did the oil change and new spark plugs then it settled down into the low 40s for the rest of the year. I know clean oil = better running engine but could the different filter really filter the oil that much better? I do weigh 10lbs less than last summer, but I doubt it would make that big a difference.

Hit reserve the other day at 190km. I filled up put in 14liters, I could have gone another 40 or so km, if the tank is really 16liters as the manual says.

Yea.  North end, by Fircrest.

I ran out of gas coming off of Highway 16 at center street yesterday.  142 miles.  4 gallons of gas @ $4.02.  ouch.  Still cheaper then my car, but not what I expected.  I suppose I could adjust the carbs a little ....  and put some fairings on!

Just an update.  Still with out fairings, I adjusted the idle screws in a half turn (had them set at the recommended 2 1/8 per the book) and went through another tank.  I spent most of this tank of the freeway though.  I filled up at 141.7 (previously ran out at 142).  2.6 gallons!  So about 54 mpg.  Much better.  Coming in the next week are new tires, rejetting with Keihun upgraded jets (instead of the I don't know what thats in there), an oil change and we'll see!!

Oh and anyone local to me (N Tacoma), the Shell on 6th, just off of Jackson, has premium fuel for $4.07.  The Chevron down the street is $4.45!!
