Ok I've been riding since '06 and ever since I got the bike and saw track day videos and pics I've wanted to go. This year I finally bought a nice 2pc suit with the intentions of doing it for sure. I'm asking you experts if you have any recommendations for the best sponsor/school/training whatever for a track day. I guess I'll be doing it at Road America since that is the closest to my house, Milwaukee WI.

Keith Code is a great school, little pricey but very good stuff.    So far, that is the only school I have actually attended.

As for organizations, I hear STT, and Fasttrax are great, dont know if they get up that way or not.

I would stay away from STT.  I went to Pocono and talked to a rider there and he told me that they allow the rider to determine his own class (Beg, Nov, Ex).  I guess for Beg it's not a big deal, but higher classes yes.  I have been unable to confirm this, so take it with a grain of salt.  Also, I don't know if they offer instruction so I would highly recommend that.  But I did notice that the time I was there I only saw one crash and no safety issues, so they must be doing something right.

STT does allow the rider to select his own level, they will knock you down a notch if you have overclassed yourself.

but I have given it some thought, as I will be riding with STT in about a week, and by far the intermediate is the most risky.  you have alot of different level riders in that level, some that think they have maladin skills, but dont.

I dont know if that is a reason to stay away, if your a beginner, then it wont matter, becuase they several beginner leverls (1a,1b type of stuff)
If your in the intermediate, well, hopefully you can ride fast enough or slow enough to stay out of most traffic

Well I would put myself in the very beginner class, I'd put training wheels on my bike and walk it around the hair pins. That way maybe I'll actually be better than one person. hahaha What about this place? www.learningcurves.com They are going to be at Road America July 4 on a Friday. I just picked up a brochure for them today at a local bike shop.

LCR is good (I know most of them from racing CCS), but they're more of a race liscence school than a real riding school.
In our area, the one's that I would recommened are: Calif superbike school (keith code) @ blackhawk or Dave Ronso's Visionsports school, also at blackhawk.
The NESBA Into school is good to from what I've heard.

So NESBA has a school now, huh?  I rode with them 2 years ago.

Parking in the corners...bad idea.  You are the rider I desparately want to get around and away from.

More like an intro class, than a school.  From what I've heard it's pretty good for what it is.

isnt Pridmore the one that teaches not to countersteer?  but to steer into the corner?  I think thats him.

You know, he is racing in the AMA superbike class this year,  as an "also ran".

but the only way he's getting any screen time is when Mladin/Spies lap him

Are you sure, he retired in 05-06 I thought?

He retired and he's not un-retired.
Krash- That was cold man, real cold.  No way to treat a former Superstock Champion.

try checking for yourself..

He is racing AMA superbike this year, he was just racing at Fontana last weekend, and
finished 17th   http://www.amaproracing.com/prorace/raceres/rr/racres.asp?cls=sb&snct=p8215&type=f&rnum=2&year=2008

and it may be cold, but its true.  Hell, YOU DIDNT EVEN KNOW HE WAS IN THE RACE!

As a matter of fact the only people that get any screen time in the Matt and Ben parade are the people battliing for 3rd and 4th.  doesnt matter who you are.  former champ or not.

Oooops.  That was supposed to say UN-retired.

I knew he was there becuase:
1- the announcer said it
2- sometimes I actually look at the names and faces of all the racers (we had 2 local guys go AMA in 04-05)

oh, thanks for the clarification, most people never pay any attention.

sorry didnt mean to threadjack, back to the original question--

is Pridmore's school any good?   I really have no experience, but I think he teaches something other than countersteering, it could be interested to check out his thoery.  I dont know how much money I would spend to check it out.
