I have just brought a 94’ CRB1000F which came with a 4 into 1,
It has a sports muffler and the bike sounds a bit raw.
Am I able to get a good sound by keeping the 4 into 1 or do I need a 4 into 2? I heard somewhere that there is a power lose running the 4 into 1’s!

my 1990 has a set of supertrapp slip ons, goldish in color, i guess you can add discs to them to quiet them down, not sure if they have anything in them now. I just got this bike, but the sound is nice, not super loud ,but enough to let someone now you are next to them.

I recently bought a '90 CBR 1000 and it too has the Supertrapp slip ons, mine our chrome finish. I like the sound, not loud till you get on it and sounds like a big dog barking when you rev it....

Much lighter than stock also.

I thought the other parts of the exhaust weighed a lot, especially all the crossover stuff under the bike. About how much weight did the slip-ons save?

Hi all,

Just stumbled onto another thread on this forum and noticed this one. My '90 CBR 1000's exhaust rotted through a couple of years ago and I now have a popular UK replacement, Motad's Nexxus exhausts. The downpipes are full stainless steel and the silencers (all available separately) are chrome plated. Their website is http://www.motad.co.uk/range/fullrange.html Don't know how easily available they are in the States, but hope this provides another option...

Good luck.

I have a vance and hines coming in the mail as we speak. I've been a fabricator for years so I plan on welding my own pipes off the factory manifold. I will tell you all how it turns out.

keep in mind that LOUD is not neccessarily bad. The more folks in their cars can notice you the better off that you are. I may look like a cheap whore on a saturday night with all of my colorful gear and LOUD bike but I don't believe in taking any chances.
Just my .02.
