I'm new to this site and first time posting. I've got a 90 CBR100F and I've been looking around for exhaust systems for my bike. I don't want to spend a lot of money and thus am leaning towards slip-ons. I've looked at into a lot of different manufactures and found that really only Vance and Hines and Two Bros makes a pipes for a 1990. I'd like to get a more meaty sound out of the pipes but not to loud. When I purchased the bike it had a Kerker racing pipe with a stage one, which was too loud for me. Has any one mounted the Vance Hines or the Two Bros? I'd like to keep my center stand for maintenance which I couldn't with the Kerker system. Here is picture of me bike, I set it more up for touring with a taller zero gravity windshield, genmar risers and a full givi luggage system.

you can go with two brother slip on

it has a deep tone to it but not real loud
with the slip on you get a plug to block off the left side
then your canister going on the right you can go to their site and
see pic it a awsome slip on kit

and you wont loss the center stand

If you don't want a "loud" pipe, don't go with the V&H system. I have the SS2R 4 into 1 system and it seems to be pretty loud. Comparable to a Devil exhaust on a 954RR my buddy rides, maybe a little louder. Two Brothers makes an awesome pipe with a sort of "growling" sound to it. Nice looking ride and welcome to the site!

Thanks for the feedback guys, this is exactly what I was looking for. This is great that we have a site dedicated to CBR1000F's. Have you guys had any major problems with your bikes? I have 38k on mine, bought it with 12 and average about 6k a year. I haven't had any major problems at all, you can't beat a Honda. I was tempted to sell it this season and pick up a Triumph ST Sprint (love the looks of it), but decided against it since my bike is running great. I pulled it out this past Sunday and took it out for a short ride. Can't wait for the warmer weather and the roads to get cleaned

Here's one system..Cobra F1R, very loud though...

http://www.motorcycleproshop.com/detail.asp?product_id=F1R-1085R

Another option is what i have on my bike, Super Trapp slip ons, not as loud as vance and hines or two bros., but gives a nice sound..Hard to find though, found mine on ebay after looking for months...

Another option is Lazer, which is out of Brooklyn ny..they have full systems and slip ons...id probably get those if i could not find the Super Trapps for cheap.....

just to add my little
quote:

I went to the two bros website - seen the slip-ons for this/our bike and they even have instructions on how to put them on. I'll be getting them pretty soon- as soon as I get my ferrings/plastics sanded down and painted and work on a few other mechanical issues. I just ordered a manual for this bike, as i plan on doing much of the maintenance/upkeep myself. This will be the first time i worked on bikes. I'm hoping to customize it and get it ready for the summer as one of the nicest bikes to ride the streets of Philly.

I'm ordering the Two Bros slip on tomorrow and will mount it my self with supplied instructions, shouldn't be to bad. I'll have to have my local shop re-jet after the slip on is mounted.

I wouldn't go for the slipn option that usues a plug for the LHS. CBR standard headers are just too dammed heavy.

I have a Vance & Hines 4-2-1 "Shadow" series I just got 2nd hand. I don't find it that loud.

Mounted the TwoBros on last night. The whole process took about 10mins. Man it is like I have a new bike, what a sweet sound. I think I added about 5 hp. Took it into work today, and I'm thinking I'll need to take a ride during lunch.

congrats on ur new exhaust geoffv.

Has anybody ever had a yoshimura exhaust on their bike?

Are they normally that loud or do I just have a bad canister? Just changed the packing and its still loud. It sounds tough but I would rather creap up on somebody rather than let them know I 'm coming a mile away.

It is incredible, how everyones perception is different about what is loud, quiet or real loud.
I thought the factory exhaust system was too quiet, to the point that I couldn't tell if the bike engine was runing(exageration).
I needed something more, like a Yoshimura 4-2-1.
I loved the deep growling sound(packing removed), but it is not ear piercing(at least not to me).
Now, I installed a V&H system and it is very quiet by comparison, almost to the point of factory(exageration again).
I might take out the V&H factory packing and try it out.
What I'm getting to here is, what is loud to someone, it might be good or too quiet for others.

The V&H system is beautiful, well made, fits perfect and it was easy to install.
You can keep your center stand and do oil filter and oil changes with no problems.
Weights more than the Yoshi system.

The Yoshi system is lighter and you loose the center stand, that is it.

Hmmmm....
Noise is a personal thing... I have a pair of Yoshi Slip on's for my 1000F. They are the older model Yoshi's, but they STRONGLY resemble the RS-3 Oval. In fact, I think they are the same except they don't have the same label on the outside of them.

To me the Yoshi's sound TOUGH! In fact they are just on the edge of noisy until I heard my buddy ride away on my bike, then it seemed rather quiet more than 20' away, just a growl in the distance. But up close, you can feel the vibration of the engine idling while the kickstand is planted on the ground, and on the bike you can hear a distinct Growling as your ride around town but you get use to it. I think the pipes have more BASS than Loud sound. Do any of ya'll have these pipes??? I love them!!! Nothing like a Litre bike with some bite to it. Hehehehe.. As long as the pipes aren't so loud the cops take notice!!!!
