has anybody else had the recall about the fuel tank prone to leaking ? would be interested to see if it has leaked on anyone yet or is the recall for uk bikes only ?

I have no problem with mine and I have not heard about this yet.

I got the recall.  I had no problems with the tank but i took it anyways.  Dealer said it would be tested and replaced only if needed.  Tank got replaced.  Was without the bike for a day and half.

It's only for the 06-07 models

I had posted about this several months ago, with quite a few responses, so check that out for good info. Before you take it in, call the dealer and make sure they have one in stock, otherwise it'll be there until they get one in. I called, they had one left. Took it in, got it replaced and two hours later I went and picked it up.
Make sure they route the hoses correctly. One member here took it in, got it replaced, then at high rpm the engine would die due to the vent hose being pinched causing a vaccuum and fuel starvation.

Most all reputable dealers now have certified mechanics to stay in business.  I am from here in the states.  GA to be exact.

here in the uk they have apprentices in some dealer garages who would struggle identifying the front from the back of the bike .lol

is it a quick check to see if a replacement is needed ? did they let your friend see the cause on the old tank ?

If you check the old posts someone posted pictures and all information but to save you time there is a weld on one of the front hose conections that was improperly completed by a certain machine. CALL the dealer FIRST to see if you need it they can go by VIN# and as mentioned above make sure they have a tank it can take weeks to get some tanks.

Mine had to be replaced.  The mechanic at the dealership said it's typically a 50/50 chance that it will need to be.  Some do and some don't.  He said the particular weld is sometimes thinner that it needs to be, and Honda sent all the dealers a tool that measures its thickness.

Oh yeah, and my dealer did not have a tank in stock, and they had my bike for over a week while they waited for one.
