Got the same bike I do brother, very nice. Its possible its the filter, but unlikely. You should just change that anyway because its cheap and easy and you gotta do it anyway. When was the last time you cleaned your carbs. I would start there if anywhere. Its sounds like a part throttle issue but its hard to diagnose by what your describing. You might have to wait until it gets little more pronounced to pinpoint it. See if you can recreate the problem over and over and then give up some more notes on the throttle position, revs, and speed. Hickups can also be from out of sync carbs which you wouldn't notice when you varying the throttle. A vaccumn leak is also a possible culprit. Sorry I can't help more but there needs to be some more info to narrow it down.

I will change the plugs first, sometimes looks can be deceiving. Putting your hand in the carbs can be messy and more problems. Just be sure the plug is not the problem.

Stynk I just had a carb clean and sync with new plugs and the hesitation now is because she scares the shi* out of me LOL
try the carb clean

Ok, if your confident in your fuel system (although I think you sould triple check) then you might consider the ignition. This can get really complicated and if you don't have a power probe and DVOM you can forget doing it yourself. One of your coils might have a loose signal wire connection or is possibly producing a weak intermitten spark. I would check resitance across the coils to start and then go through the Clymer or Haynes diagnostic procedures for the ignition system. When you hve a problem like yours it suck because you can't re-create the issue when the bike is standing still. When you got issues like this you gotta go by the book and just check everything until you find something questionable. Your issue could very well be electrical, could be as simple as a loose battery connection or short. I feel for you man. If you don't have one already then get yourself a Clymer or Haynes but if you have nothing more then a basic tool set then you best bet might be to just take it to the dealer. If you are confortable working on your ride then your gonna save a lot of money, but its going to take time. You've got to resign yourserlf to really pulling the bike apart so you can access all the elctrical devices and connections. I know from experience on my bike that the electrical plug connections on these machines do little to prevent corrosion so you need to pack EVERY ONE with di-electric greese or you've got problems waiting to happen. I could type a list a mile long (already have) of things it could be but its not going to help you much, you just gotta fallow the manuals troubleshooting section and hope for the best. Again, if you can be more descriptive with the problem it might give us all a better direction to go in. Also, there is always the chance your new pump has an issue where it is going on and off power. Sorry man, wish I could help you more. Keep us posted

Believe it or not I had the sam problem I had to rewire because a small bottle of AXE got between the Reg and overheated the wires all better now I just redid the wiring took about an hour
