I got my bike last season and have been riding it a lot - 5K miles since mid summer last year... This is a great first bike. The problem is- It's always made an odd noise when I have the bike in neutral and idling, but it goes away as soon as I pull the clutch in. It's not a terrible noise, but it definitely sounds like something is a bit off. It’s sort of a light rattling noise – kinda like the chain is suddenly too loose. (It’s not.) Any ideas about what might be causing the noise? I was going to have some time this weekend to dig into it, but I thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone knows what might be causing it. I'm still a bit new at bike maintenance, so please be specific in your diagnosis.

The fact that it goes away when you pull the clutch in, then my guess would be that its the clutch basket, if so, then the noise is perfectly normal. Also when in neutral you have vibrations coming from the fairing etc, that can make a noise that also die down when you use the clutch.

+1.... completely normal. for some reason, the F3's are little noisier than other models. but again, completely normal.
