Stupid question here-ive seen em a thousand times, but what exactly causes a highside wreck?  I understand lowsiding a bike.  Ive watched a ton of videos but cant seem to make the connection in my mind as to what happens when someone highsides their bike, I mean what are the physics involved?

Well in that video it looked like he hammered on the throttle the rear tire lost traction skid and then all of a sudden stuck to the ground. With the front and rear tire out of line both trying to go two seperate directions and WHAMMY!!!!

dang FFCBRf4i, sorry to hear but kudos on the gear .. my biggest fear is those Progressive insurance gremlins coming out of nowhere to take me down .. glad they only got your bike and didn't get you.

420, in addition to what sb said, most common cause (there are others) is when locking the rear brake and letting go mid slid causing quick traction regain and bucking you off toward the moon.

Glad your ok man and sorry about the bike.  I had a deam last night that I crashed my bike, but I jumped off into the grass and was fine, but my sweet F4 was rashed up.  I woke up mad LOL!

I have put 1K miles on my bike this spring and sometimes I wounder why I ride with all that can go wrong.  I guess it's the fact that I love to ride so much I take the risk like we all do.

That totally sucks balls man. I haven't high-sided before, did it hurt or was it like low siding, just on the opposite side of the bike?

I high sided almost exactly the way this guy did, but not as violent.

High-siding is fun if you have a cushion to catch you and your bike afterwards so that there wouldn't be any damage. It's nice being in the air, but it's the part where you come down that sucks. It would definitely hurt more if I didn't have my gear on. After you land, you're basically just tossed around and rolling.

Trying to get pics up soon.
