ZX-6r?

I figure I would get a more honest answer here than on any other board, so here goes. I am looking to change bikes shere within maybe 6 months or so. I really like the styling on the zx-6r's, a little more than even the CBRs which I love. I don't know much about kawaski in general, I have played on a few of their dirt bikes, but that doesn't help me at all. Anyone had the chance to ride one of these bikes around for any period of time? If you have, I also wonder what you thought of the tach, from the photos I have seen it looks like a digital bar that circles around the speedo in the same motion as your typical needle. Did you find it hoaky or frustrating to work with? Thanks.

My buddy had one for a couple weeks before he crashed it, Ive known 4 guys that crashed those bikes within 2 weeks of buying, although three of them had no business even riding them. Anyways i rode his 05 for a day, it was ok but i personally like the style of cbr more. Kawi's have a fat @SS (wide tail) that i didnt like. However i do love that tack. Its just as easy to read as a needle and probably easier at night cause it glows. I actually want to find a set of gauges with that tack for my cbr

What did you think of the handling, performance, etc compared to hondas?

I would have to say the handling was almost as good as the cbr but i definatly have a bias. And I didnt get to ride it enough to really get a feel for the engine. Go to Bikez.com and you can copare the ratings of the two bikes

Guy I know on another forum got a 2006 ZX-6 about a year ago and I think he's already logged over 5,000 miles. He says it's reliable as the Yamaha R6. I don't know about comparison to the Honda 600RR though. He's over 6' tall and quite comfortable on it. It looks more comfortable than the R6, but I've never sat on it. I assume you're getting a new one... but it might be worth it to see if anyone selling a recent used one will let you test ride it. Good luck.

Haven't decided whether I am gonna get one or not, but it would be used if I did. No sense driving something off the lot that loses $1000 off the resale value for leaving the parking lot.

Hi Exitwound, I used to have CBR600rr '04 before and change with ZX6R '07... Cbr is more smooth handling and power delivery.. Zx6r '07 is now more sexier than before and high-end power delivry is good... so you need to change the sprocket to get the low band power... i suggest CBR is good.. now i change to GSXR1k k8 sexy beast... IMO

My main riding buddy has a 2003 636 and I know that bike rocks! He beats the hell out of the bike and it come back for more. It's been droped twice and he ride wheelies like 100 times a day. Kaw makes a damn good bike IMO.

The kawi is a good bike. The only thing that I know about that you have to watch out for is when changing your oil filter. You have to start the bike when the filter is loose to help bleed the air out the oil lines. I've dealt with kawi about this and for some reason they say that sometimes if can get a air bubble in the system when changing your filter and the oil pump gets vapor locked and is unable to push the air out and can oil starve the top end. But only saw this happen once. But the thing handles great, and rev's to the moon. I like the tach, but don't like the idea of a stop watch and lap timer on it. I just don't see anyone timing themself while being out on the track. I would think you would want to think about setting up for the turn instead. I think that today most bikes are great, now you are just dealing with style or what you like the best.

The mechanic at Brockton Cycle center is suppose to be one of the best in new england and he says that honda has the overall best engine when it comes to performance and reliability. And they dont even sell Hondas they are a kawi and yamaha dealer.

He has never even set the shift light to where he wants it. I would love to have a shift light on my F4 and it would help alot. Nowa days all the major brand bikes are good bikes it just come down to what you want and price. I know when I get a cruiser bike I'm going to get a Suzki M50-the best bang for the buck out there hands down. Honda is known to last forever, but there not always the best looking bikes IMO.
