So today, I was riding to work. Everything was fine, had my miles reading 176, its close to put gas in....as I mad the corner to my work place, my engine starts to hesitate really bad...my rpm drops...I thought it was the gas out so I flicked the reserve...still hesitating and I thought it might need a little time. Luckly i was at my work place already.

I get off work and i tell my wife to bring me gas. She does, I check and I still have about 1/8 of gas left..I fill it up with gas and I turn on the motor...all is fine. I jump on and put it into gear. it works, I release the clutch and ride off...NOPE! the engine stalls and I press in the clutch. At idle, its fine. i can squeeze it off to 2.5k but anything more then that the engine starts to hesitate and its rpm drops and cuts out.

I pulled the bike into my work office and I took the tank apart and checked out all the vaccum hoses..all is fine...I dont know whats up with it. Could it be that the carb needs cleaning? When I took off the tank, I checked the air filter and carbs, it looks REALLY clean....anyone had this issue before? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

I found the problem, well, sorta...I guess it was the carb gett'n stuck. It felt odd since I havent owned a carb car in a loooooooooong time that I forgot the symptoms of a carb going south. I put Sea Foam and mixed it half/half with gasoline, i injected it into the fuel line and sprayed some into the throttle body...it shot out white smoke for a good 2 minutes then BAM! everything is all good again.

Kool, I didnt want to take it to the $tealer, they wanted 560.00!!

its possible that when you ran low on fuel you pulled contaminates into the mains. Happened to me a while back, had shit in the bowls and when I went low on fuel my carbs sucked a peice in cause the bowls were the last thing that had fuel in them. Was fine at idle cuircuuit cause the mains weren't being used yet, but once I hit 2.5 or 3 the bike ran like shit. No one likes to pull the carbs but I would start there. Good luck

yeah happen to me too.. went to low on fuel a few months back switched to reserved stalled.. sputtered..but got me home went home... filled it up all the way. set me idle high around 5k and bout ten mins later ran just fine.
