I have heard great things about BMC race filters.  K and N will typically decrease horsepower right out of the box until you get a custom tune using a PCIII.  I don't know exactly what BMC will do out the box but if you've ever seen one they're pretty thin.

I prefer the K&N's, they're what I always ran on my vdubs and chevys.

I'm probably go with a K&N again (had it in my last bike) just because of the reuseability factor.

I've ready several writeups on several CBR websites and they say K&N did not fair as well in increasing performance as the BCM so I purchased the BCM race filter.  On one forum a guy posted runs of the bike before and after both airfilters were placed on the bike and the BCM was better by 1-2HP.

I have a K&N in my 600R and a BMC in my 929 and if I had of known about the BMC filters when I bought my 6 that's what would of been in it!

its better quality in my opinion

I might try the BMC then. Not too concerned about maximum HP gain (believe it or not [well maybe a little bit]), but don't have a problem trying something different.

Oh, I've read somewhere in this forum and see that the stock air filter is the better one. Is this true ? Or BMC, K&N are good only when dancing with a PC3 ?

I''m pulling this one back up because of the last question. I am in the same boat. I''m not running a PC III and would like to know whether to stay stock on the filter or go aftermarket.

What''s up?

First thing i did when i got my bike was drop in a K&N. I didnt have a pc3 till about 15k miles later, bike ran fine, didnt foul plugs, use extra fuel, or anything that would make me think it wasnt fine.
